I used the tailpiece to replace an old tremolo on an Emperador guitar. It fit perfect except I had to drill two holes. Looks and works great
Bought this for a thinline project. Well made, handsome, and simple. Works well.
This item was ordered for a friend and he was very happy with it.
While not the best trapeze I have ever seen it makes a great replacement for broken or missing ones on certain guitars, especially where budget can be concerned. The plating was well done and overall it is a sound piece of hardware.
They stock a more expensive tailpiece that looks identicle. I can't imagine how much better it could be than the the one I purchased.I bought the chrome one.
I bought this guitar without a tailpiece so needed one 'badly'. After measuring the different distances between the existing holes and distances to the top of the guitar, I started looking around. StewMac publishes all the relevant distances on their website and they matched exactly with what I had measured on my Ibanez. Ordering was easy and once received, the tailpiece fitted perfectly and it looks good on the guitar. It plays well too! The only improvement I suggest StewMac make is regarding the screws supplied. They are not great and some stainless steel ones would be much better. Other than that, I am happy.
Purchased this to complete a rebuild from the ground up on a vintage archtop guitar. Fits the bill and has set the guitar off with an authentic look.
Tines were of uneven length and bent to differing angles. The nut on one tine was screwed on crookedly, stripping the screw. While turn-around time and delivery were quick, the product was substandard.
This is a solid, well made item that looks identical to those used by Gibson on its ES 335's and other models. I had hoped to use it to replace the existing "Fingers" tailpiece on my Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion 111, on which I find it almost impossible to change strings.
However, although the mounting bracket looks similar to that on the "Fingers" tailpiece, the screw holes don't line up and there is no way I will drill new holes in the guitar to make it fit the tailpiece. It's a pity the maker of such after-market accessories doesn't make the unit without screw holes so it can be adapted to fit a variety of instruments. I will either have to have a new mounting bracket made and gold plated or live with the string changing problem.
Awesome product. I am currently restoring a 1970's model melody acoustic archtop using all high quality fixtures. This tailpiece will work superbly for it's desired application. Stewmac forgot to send the mounting screws with the initial item, but happily posted them free of charge when I let them know the oversight. Thanks a lot guys!!
