Schroeder Stoptail Bridge

I was looking for a wrap around style bridge/stop piece with a relatively low profile and some style. I came across the Schroeder and it fit my needs. It is well designed and functions great.

One note, I made an error while I was notching the brass saddle pieces and ended up needing replacements. StewMac does not carry the replacement pieces. I ended up contacting Jason Schroeder directly and was able to order them from him. He and his wife were very helpful and nice to deal with.

I think I've tried every make of "tune-o-matic-type" wrap-over bridge on the market. They're either too heavy or the adjustable saddles are too loose or both. I have a pretty good idea on how this bridge is built, I just have a hard time imaging why nobody has done it before.

I've installed two of them (so far). One's on a 1960 single cutaway Gibson Melody Maker-D and the other is on a `07 R-4 Historic Les Paul. What's so great about this that the others don't give? Well, it is made from Machined Aircraft Aluminium which is much more consistent than the typical cast aluminium, the Stainless Steel screws are very good at transferring vibrations and the Brass Saddles are the same grade as the original Gibson Brass from the `50's. The tolerances are very tight. Unlike typical TOM bridges that the saddles and screws move from vibrations, these don't. Tighter tolerances mean great string/vibrations transfer. It has a nice full, warm and harmonically rich aspect to it.

The note detail and clarity is also improved. If you have a guitar with a Wrap-over bridge/tail piece, then you owe it to yourself to get one of these!

I just started making my own "LP" style guitars and was looking for a simple, elegant and functional one-piece wrap-around bridge to eliminate the usual two piece bridge / stop-tail configuration. After researching a number of bridge styles, I selected the Schroeder Stop Tail bridge and couldn't be happier!
Not only is this bridge a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, when coupled with the TonePros locking studs (which I bought separately) it gives my guitar rock solid stability and sustain for days!! Add to that the ability to fine tune the guitar with precision saddles and you've got the perfect bridge.
And, as the other reviewer noted, stringing the guitar is a breeze with no worries on scratching your finish. Admittedly I was a bit cautious when stringing my new creation for the first time since I've had other wrap-around bridges cause the string to nose dive into my guitar's body (and they never seem to feed thru right). But with the Schroeder bridge the strings flowed through effortlessly each time and never once came near the finish - amazing!!
I'm not one to give praise where it isn't due, but this is honestly THE BEST bridge I have ever used. I'll be purchasing more to use in my future guitar builds for sure.
Do yourself a favor and check this bridge out - like me, you'll be glad you did!!

I was incredibly pleased when I received the Schroeder Stoptail. Just this one small change and I feel as if I have a new guitar! Very classy and easy to use... plus, I never realized how much I worried about scratching the finish with the string ends- it is so nice to not have to worry anymore! I am placing another order to replace the bridge on anther guitar. Thanks!
