This adjustable bridge/tailpiece adds intonation adjustment to the Les Paul® Junior and similar guitars, and it's a great alternative for custom instruments, too.

The strings install at the front, two allen screws adjust the overall bridge angle, and the unnotched metal saddles have individual intonation screws. Mounting posts are not included (TonePros locking posts are required for optimum setup).

About bridge & tailpiece measurements

String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

Positioning the bridge

Tip: Slotting Tune-o-matic style saddles
Nut slotting files work great for metal saddles. Simply use the same techniques you'd use for nut slotting (read more in Making a Nut, Step-by-Step). After filing to the desired depth, we suggest polishing the slot with Mitchell's Abrasive Cord to remove file marks and burrs.

Third pigtail bridge

This is the third pigtail bridge so far so I must like them. So far 2 are on roughly LP ish guitars I made and the 3rd is on a 2 cutaway semi hollow that normally I would have put a vibrato on. My initial comments about the tone pros studs suggested by SM still stand and I'm perfectly happy with standard studs and bushings I get in the UK which are easier to adjust and still sound as good as the tone pros studs. The 2 cutaway guitar sounds great with this bridge and Lace red at neck and a SD lil '59 at the bridge. The bridge is installed with no offset on the bass side.

Beware of Zinc!

My tech guy already fitted one of those on my '65 Gibson SG Junior (the nickel version though) with excellent results, but somehow I insisted on trying out a Tone Pros AVT- II with locking posts for my lastest project, a '80's Mosrite V88 body with a custom made neck. At the time to do the final set-up though, I noticed some twangy, banjo-like annoying buzzing coming from the G and B strings. I tried about 4 different sets of strings, all with different gauges (GHS and Ernie Ball) but nothing worked. So I got one of those Pigtails here and ditched the locking posts in favor of some traditional stainless steel posts too, and BAM! Problem solved. Improved sustain and the intonation seems easier to get right too. Now, if Callaham could clone this Pigtail design using the same technique and material they use for their ABR-1's, then there wouldn't be a better wraparound on the planet.

55' Gibson Bridge Upgrade

Gibson with studs not centered, so strings were not centered. Needed a wraparound without pre-notched inserts. This bridge worked perfect. Used tone-pro studs, and the action improved greatly.

'57 LP Jr - Pigtail replacement bridge

I swapped out the original stock Gibson wraparound bridge with a Pigtail. I don't hear any signifigant change in the guitar's tone. From my point of view, that is a good thing. I think the sustain is about the same, maybe a little less but so close to the original I really can't tell for sure. Being able to intonate the guitar is really nice though. I've always been able to work around it with my fingers but it is nice none the less. I tried to use the original studs but the bridge tilted up in the stock posts; not good. I got a pair of the TonePros locking studs and problem solved. The locking studs also keep the bridge securely in position when restrining. There is zero buzz from this bridge, it really is exceptionally well made. Great on my LP Jr, perfect fit. Just buy the TonePros locking studs and swap the lot out. Keep the original in a box so you can put things back to stock and retain the guitar's value. It's really a straight swap with zero machining or fickering with the guitar. Probably the best bridge for a LP Jr out there.

Stop and tail

Very pleased with this product. I used it in the restoration of an old 70s mongrel LP Jnr. Amazing difference. Sustain, attack and across the board tone are way improved. Also the radius and saddle spacing (once notched) are a lot more accurate than the original. The guitar has a very low profile, but there’s plenty of room for positioning and intonation adjustment. Tonepros studs fitted perfectly into the existing metric posts, there’s still a bit of lean but once locked tight, it’s solid as a rock. One tip: put a 30 degree bend in the Tonepros spanner to avoid scratching anything.

Great product!

I got this to replace the solid wraparound tailpiece on an old LP special. Intonation problems on that guitar made playing things higher on the fretboard sound slightly out of tune. Once I installed this, intonation problems were solved (with a little fiddling), and the tone is still as great as it used to be.

Good product

I purchased this bridge as an upgrade of the Schaller wraparound on my Bresett guitar. The tonal improvement was definitely noticeable with slighty enhanced mids and a more open tone. It also has more saddle adjustment than most wraparound bridges. I will include this bridge on future builds.

Unexpectedly Awesome

I had to recently switch out with the Schaller Bridge/Tailpiece, which to my surprise was poorly engineered - if you have to have the bridge set low on the Schaller, it FORCES you to dig the strings into your finish (Uhhhh, WOW!) so I "Settled" for this bridge, which I was a little hesitant about, mainly because I am not overly excited about products that put a "swine" reference in it.. all joking aside - this bridge was pretty awesome and the tone on my second build is beyond anyone's expectations - this is called "The Silver Willow" guitar - search for it on the net for some amazing photos and videos. Thanks Stewie!

One of the best bridges I have ever used

Order this one, you're not gonna regret it. It replaced my PRS wraparound bridge, and improve its tone and intonation a lot!

Excellent bridge

I wanted to upgrade the "lightning bolt" bridges on my old SGs, so I could adjust the intonation easily. The Pigtail does the job beautifully. The stud spacing was perfect, unlike some others I tried, and it's nicely made of made of lightweight aluminum.
