I installed these on my '72 Tele Custom RI. The intonation is much more precise, and the brass really fattened up tone compared to the stock steel saddles.
I'm now recommending them for nearly all of my client's three barrel Tele's.
I replaced the three original Fender saddles with these and I got a significant improvement in the intonation all over the fretboard. The installation is very easy. The only problem I experienced derives from the fact that these saddles are plain, against the original ones that have a slot where strings are placed; this means that the height of the strings are higher with respect to the original saddles, so I had to set the height of the saddles at the minimum in correspondence of the E strings (low and high) with no possibility of fine adjusting. In this way I was able to get the height of the two E strings at about 1.6 mm (E high) and 1.9 mm (E low) respectively.
I can only say that these really work nicely. In my Baja Telecaster, not only did the sound became a bit snappier and livelier, but the intonation across all strings was practically perfect! Definitely recommended for a tele with that vintage look.
Had to reverse one of the saddles to intonate the G/D strings. Nice long screws, and the saddles don't touch each other. Low E sits flat on the bridge with my setup. Should come as a package with the 3 saddle bridge. Unwound strings really came alive.
I got these for a parts-caster I've had for a few months (which I really love and play out with quite a bit). While these did not give me absolute perfect intonation, they got me so much closer than the original straight Fender saddles that it's just great. The added bonus, however, is that they added a little more dimension to the guitar's sound--now I really love this guitar! Thank you Stew-Mac!
Put these on a Squire 51, the guitar came alive with a great tone, not just my opinion but ALL others that have played it, including my professional instructor. Intonation was dead on too.
I was reluctantly considering selling my Squier CV 50's Tele. I loved its tone, but it almost always sounded out of tune to me. I decided to gamble on a set of these saddles, and I am glad I did. The intonation is MUCH improved and the added sustain is a bonus. These changed a "just-OK" guitar into a keeper.
