This bridge and its piezo sound are great for the stage. You would not want it for the studio, per se, but for the handfull of songs that you need to be "acoustic sounding" in a working band... This will get you one step closer to having that "Swiss Army" guitar. It's kind of pricey and you will need it professionally installed, but it will give you good results. One hang up in choosing this bridge is how will you amplify the signal? On board? Through a Mixer? Outboard Preamp? There's more to think of here and a professional guitar maker or repairman can help you with the answers. I used the CTRL-X as my choice of onboard preamp as it was the best choice for my customer. If you are considering installing this bridge, please read my review for the CTRL-X as I've attached a possible working wiring diagram for your guitar (ie. a guitar that has a TOM bridge and 2 pickups).
I've had the T-Bridge for a long time now and I've always thought it really added a lot of character to my Epiphone Les Paul. It was installed with The Control-X Preamp and I've used it this way for years, sending the T-Bridge to an acoustic amp and the Mags to an Electric Amp. I've noticed the T-bridge sounds best when its not colored with a lot of excess tweaking as I've often plugged into the Aux 1/4 inch input of a Roland Cube15 with nothing but WOW going on in my head! That's just one facet of its capabilities.
I recently installed a Graph Tech Hexpander in my guitar for midi and synth guitar applications. It tracks and sounds great! Really I can't say enough good about this considering the experience I've had and am having with it!
One final word, it will not make your electric sound like an acoustic guitar as in Bluegrass strumming or Flatpicking, but it definitely gives an electric guitar a much softer side for things like Fingerpicking. Without question, a great add to any tune-o-matic equipped guitar!
I installed this bridge on 3 guitars I built and I like it. I installed it creating a channel for the wires under the maple top
