About bridge & tailpiece measurements

String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

I recently outfitted my US standard tele with a B5 Bigsby......in order to help with the bending of the Bigsby, I ordered the chrome Schaller roller bridge. StewMac delivered once again....a perfect fit....great product....great service....thanks StewMac!

What an awesome improvement!

Buy this bridge! After replacing my tune-o-matic with the original Gibson part, I was still breaking strings at the bridge. Instead of taking it to the shop I liked the design of this bridge and the reviews were good so I decided to try it. It has improved both the resonance and feel way beyond what I expected. My Les Paul Custom is better than ever! Thanks Schaller and StewMac!

Best Upgrade So Far...

On my G ES-335 I narrowed fret buzzing down to the stock tunomatic bridge. Tried the usual to fix, but no good. Additionally, I ended up experiencing the same issue with a recently purchased Epi LP. In addition the fret buzz, I noticed a crimp in the strings and thought that couldn't be good for a healthy resonating tone. I replaced ES-335 with the Schaller roller bridge and wow! You notice the difference instantly. Of course no fret buzzing, the sustain is better and honestly, it has better tone. I was concerned about the gold being different in color tone, but were a dead-on match. Two thumbs up for this bridge.

Not just for trems anymore

I have been using roller bridges on all my Bigsby equipped guitars for years. I have taken to using them on ALL my guitars that use a Tune-O-Matic bridge. I can adjust the spacing and intonate much easier with rollers !

Best Upgrade for Gibson guitars.

My 2003 Les Paul resonates like never before with this Schaller bridge installed. I never realized the stock Nashville tune-o-matic was leeching the tone out of my guitar. Gibson would be smart to contract with Schaller to include this bridge on every factory guitar. It was such a great tonal improvement, I bought one for my SG too.

Spacing

Originally, I selected this bridge when I first started making guitars in case I flubbed on string alignment. Now I like the idea of custom spacing since not all player's fingers are created equal.

Rock and Roller Bridge

Nice bridge, I just put a Bigsby B7 on my Les Paul and this keeps it in tune well. Only bummer is this has 14" radius and my LP has a 12" radius. They should make one specifically for Gibsons.

Bridge over Troubled Waters

I have installed several roller bridges over the years, and I prefer them on my Bigsby equipped guitars. Normally when I get a guitar without a tremolo, I install a Bigsby on it. Recently I purchased a Super Eagle custom jazz box from The Heritage company and it came with a Schaller Roller Bridge. I didn't know what the brand of the bridge was, but I thought it was just something that Heritage had made for them. After a bit of research starting here at the StewMac website, I found that it was a Schaller Roller Bridge. I immediately ordered another one for my Gretsch 6120-1959 and I have another couple of guitars just waiting to be converted. It's easy to install, even if you have to shorten the threaded shafts of a rosewood jazz box bridge base. Nothing to it, good looks, precision engineered and the shape of the bridge doesn't grind it'self into your hand.
