Just fitted the new tailpiece to My Gibson RB250 and have my old Banjo back again. The tone quality and old noise has returned
I had a string buzz that was driving me crazy and I replace my tailpiece with the Kershner, what a great product no more buzz
This tail piece is solid! It is better built than I expected and really "sets the tone" for the overall quality of the instrument. Thanks StewMac!
The Kershner tail piece is an excellent product! It's the real thing. I have been using them for years. I recently purchased a new banjo and it didn't have the Kershner tail piece so I ordered one from Stewart - MacDonald. These tail pieces are the only way to fly if you are looking for a strongly built tail piece that will stand the pressure and place your strings where ever you want them and hold them there securely end evenly. I like my strings quite close to the head and these tail pieces are the best ones I've found to do the job and still have a tail piece that looks nice and rugged at the same time. As for Stewart-MacDonald, Their service is second to none! Polite & prompt! A very satisfied customer - Bob Jones, Grafton, N.B. Canada.
I have an Orpheum No 2. Banjo. I think I may have the only one in the world as I can't find anyone else with one. It was a gift. Once I went through it and finished the work that should have been done at the factory I found it to be quite nice. After a recent fret job I took a look at the tailpiece. Cheap, stamped thin metal. After installing this tailpiece I was blown away by the change. The lower strings were louder and bassier and the high strings were a little less tinny. Overall the mix was much better between all of them. And.. not sure if it is my mind playing tricks or just expectations .. but the banjo is indeed louder. I wish I had done this sooner. Oh.. yeah.. And Stewmac's price was much lower than anywhere else.
nickel plateing is the best...smooth finish...can be used with steel or nylon strings
Very satisfied
I'm very pleased with the Kershner tailpiece. Its easy to change strings and they don't pop off the little spools at the end of the tailpiece. Quality of construction is A-1 and it sounds great on my banjo. I highly recommend it .
The price is reasonable, it's totally adjustable and very "gutsy". I'd say it's one of the best available.
You absolutely can't go wrong with a Kirshner. You can pay a lot more for a "boutique" tailpiece but you'll only be paying more for a tailpiece that does the same thing as the Kirshner.
