Very good product, worth the effort to install properly

The bridge I ordered was the rosewood version for my Epiphone ES-175. Was encouraged by the previous reviews that installed it on the same guitar although I took the plunge and got the rosewood instead. The bridge itself came with a healthy gloss and the quality shows. However the one that I got had one corner slightly rough and jagged, nothing some sandpaper couldn't fix. Took me 3 seconds. I tested the difference between sanding the feet to fit the contour of the body and not and the tone was much fuller when properly sanded. Otherwise it might sound slightly nasally. Very acoustic like tones from this rosewood model. Brings out a lot of interesting woody harmonics when playing chords not unlike an acoustic guitar. Playing single notes produces full tones and turning down the tone knob can still give a warm tone peppered with bright acoustic flavour which would be hard to get with the metal tune-o-matic. Like a previous review mentioned however there is a slight loss in sustain. For me it's a trade off I'm willing to accept for the complex tones you can coax from this bridge but it does make the guitar feel quite different. I wish I had the ebony one for comparison but this is the most apt description I could do. Bridge comes unslotted, but this is by no means a flaw. You can adapt this to your preference or to fit your guitar. Generally this bridge is good to go with minimal work out of the box. I finished my purchase with some gold top hat knobs just to compliment the 1960s ES-175 aesthetic. Great products from stewmac, will be ordering more stuff from them in future.

Very good!!!

I replaced the tune-o-matic bridge on my 1996 Gibson Tal Farlow with one of these great ebony bridges. The tone and the sound production is really different and beautiful. Recommend 100% for me. Fast shipping and low price. It's a pity that absence of little notches (in the bridge) for the guitar strings spacing.

What a difference! What a deal!

I replaced the tune-o-matic style on my Epiphone ES-175 with one of these EBONY bridges. The tone, sound production and clarity difference is unbelievable. Sounds like a different guitar. Doubled in volume. Focused the tone. Intonation is great (which was one of my big concerns). Recommend 100%! Even if you are not sure, just buy it to try it. What is $20 in the long run?

A keeper

The rosewood model was purchased to replace the Adjusto-Matic bridge on a new Gretsch G5420T. The stock puppy rattled non-stop and added an unpleasant metal-on-metal edge to the guitar's sound. This well-made bridge does not rattle at all and lends a woody quality that is very appealing. It is inexpensive and looks classy too. The bridge radius is 13" while the fretboard radius is 12", but that didn't turn out to be a problem in terms of tone or playability. The only sacrifice was a bit of sustain.

VERY Nicely Made Ebony Bridge!

When customizing my Aria FA-71, one of the mods I made was swapping out the oem rosewood bridge for this ebony bridge. The feet on this required a little sanding to get a perfect fit, but they were AMAZINGLY close to begin with. This bridge is VERY nicely made; the wood is of top-notch quality, the compensation is right-on, and a LOT of care went into the polishing of the wood. I'm used to doing these tiny kinds of tweaks myself to get the finish on things as perfect as possible, but other than sanding the bridge's feet a little to fit them perfectly to the unique arch of my guitar's soundboard, and making string grooves in the saddle once I determined where I wanted those grooves, there was no fine detailing left to do. Switching to this bridge gave the sound much more clarity, each note is now much more distinctly heard and doesn't tend to get buried in the sound of other notes. I'm curious how the rosewood version of this bridge would sound in comparison, so I'll probably have to try one of those to find out.

Great bridge

Intonation is spot on. Wood is nice and it will work for a 2 1/4 string spacing (just barely, but good to know if you need a wide spacing). Also, IMPORTANT positive, there's loads of room to remove material to help an old guitar with high action regain nice play-ability. I was able to take a 1/4 inch off the overall height. Nice bridge, worth the money

Great value

These bridges are very finely made and would grace even higher- end instruments. In fact, it will be the best thing showing on the old beater I ordered it for...

Just Like Old

This bridge was purchased for my ES125 project. I am a learning novice with guitar repair and not at all a luthier. I had bought the tune-o-matic bridge and like the fact that I can intonate it, however, this wood Archtop bridge gives my ES125 a more authentic sound. I intend on swapping bridges occasionally depending on what I am recording. It was hard to make the choice of the tune-o-matic or wood bridge, however if I bought this Archtop Bridge first, I would probably have not gone with the tune-o-matic. My advice is to go with this bridge if you want a sound more conducive to the original design of the instrument. I am not going for authentic restoration and imagine that those who are should go with the wood bridge.

Replacement bridge

This is not the first time I have use this bridge nor will it be the last.
As always this part will be the final touch to my rebuild of my 1962 Harmony

Nice Bridge

I'm reworking an old, wrecked Gretsch arch-top. The bridge worked perfectly with very little adjustment.
