Pickups, Windings and Magnets

This book takes you from pickups birth to todays active pickups & advanced wiring with informative articles and great photos. It really helped me prepare for my 1st homemade pickup wind letting me know the do's & don'ts about the entire process. A MUST for those tech savvy planning on winding their own pickups and not for the "string change is a mod" kinda guy. It shows you how to wind & wind single coils and humbucker's, magnet polarity & correct placement and the advantages & tone variations of using different magnets. I've read it thru many times but have also gone back to refer to it's information on numerous occasions to help me thru a build. GET ONE ♫

A great trip through the history of the electrified guitar. And some great info about magnetics and pickups in general including those who've contributed to making our guitars sound better.

The history, the how to. All in one book. If you are a techno compulsive like me, who has to know the how does about everything, then this is for you. Not a casual read, but important if you want to see how your guitar does what it does, and the path it took to get there.

This is an excellent book. Very descriptive and focused on important things. I think that Mario's research for this book is amazing. Very helpful in understanding every thing about pickups. (Not on the scientific side).

This book is full of interesting historical stuff and would clearly be of great interest to collectors. As a technician, I was a little disappointed that so little attention was given to tech details. Would like to see a text devoted almost entirely to schematics, oscilloscope patterns, flux densities etc. This would be of little use to musicians, I guess, but would be really helpful technical types like me who do the design work.
