Historical Lute Construction

I really like how the history, development, and decline of the lute are explained. As a guitar player I'm interested in the lute as a precursor to the classical guitar. I wanted to see how a round back instrument is made. This book goes into much more detail than several books I have on classical guitar construction. I think it would be fun to make a ukulele or classical guitar with a lute style body shape and rounded back.

This work has had a lot of thought and experience invested in it. It is both a useful reference as well as a book that is just absorbing and gives food for thought as well as practical advice. A must for the library of any stringed instrument maker, I think, especially if you are embarking upon lute construction.

The section which I really liked was the one relating to how he "voices" the lute. It is very clear and precise and one I would like to see emulated in classical guitar construction books
