consistent quality

i've ordered these maple bridge plate stock pieces from stewmac for years now and have never received a piece that i wasn't happy with. the maple stock is consistently rigid, but is sometimes a little off color though usually it is brilliant white and without imperfections. and each piece is always big enough for 2 bridge plates on a jumbo or L-body gibson. very happy with the quality and the price and glad not to have to cut them myself from maple stock!

Flimsy

I must agree with Mr. Baker. I am replacing the plate and bridge on a badly distorted mahogany-top Guild, fractured through the pin holes and buckled upward. The piece I received is much too soft and pliable to use for such a repair. For building, I couldn't say for sure.

Versatile

I use these pieces for many projects usually as backing for very dense brittle woods. Works great to keep everything held together and workable.

Solid

Ignore the first review, this bridge stock is a solid piece that would make a great replacement for any old worn out bridge plate! It is not flexible. There is more than enough stock to make two bridge plates!

Bridge plate stock

I am very unhappy with the bridge plate stock I received. It is floppy and not at all stiff, and I won't be using this in any acoustic guitar. I think that using a piece of maple this flexible would be detrimental to the structural integrity of the acoustic guitar down the road, and I wish that stew mac would be more careful with quality control on such an item. I know it is cheap, but it is also an important aspect of the acoustic guitar in my opinion. Maybe I just got a bad piece, and that's okay, but I have found way better maple bridge plate stock elsewhere.

Maple Bridge Plate Stock

The maple bridge plate stock is a great convenience to my small luthier shop. At a resonable price, they save me a ton of time and work in milling out plates from standard maple stock. Also, they are flat sawn which is not as prone to rolling up and lifting with age.
