Need help calculating your fret locations?
Our online fret scale calculator can calculate any scale length you want to use. It will also give you accurate measurements for locating the bridge on your instrument.

A note about ebony:
Ebony is usually not uniformly black. We offer Black Fingerboard Stain, as used by Gibson®, Paul Reed Smith® and other makers, for darkening the streaks on ebony fingerboards, bridges and peghead overlays when desired.

Stable and colorful

I have used many Stew-Mac Rosewood fingerboards with great results. They are stable, colorful, well quartered and consistent. The only complaint I have is they are too thin. I prefer to start at .280"-.300" before radiusing so I end up with .250" at the center. These often come right at .250" and end up on the thin side after radiusing, inlaying and sanding.
