Primavera is known as "white mahogany." It's lighter in weight than traditional mahogany, with smaller pores. It resembles swamp ash somewhat, with a slightly yellowish color. Primavera has been used in solidbodies by luthiers Michael Tobias and Tom Anderson.
Approximate dimensions: 14" x 21" x 1-3/4" (355.5mm x 533mm x 44.45mm)
Primavera body blanks can be shipped outside the USA, and are becoming a popular alternative to restricted traditional Honduras mahogany.
Primavera is open-grained, and filler should be used to level the pores before applying a finish. The wood is beautiful when finished in clear or tinted lacquer.
