Bolt-on Acoustic Guitar Neck

I do nearly all 12-fret instruments and sometimes an order just won't wait, so in a time-crunch, this neck and matching block save the day. Top quality adds to the pleasure of using these parts.

The neck is very well made and requires little finish work. May be the best premachined neck I have ever bought.
But I would love to have some extra material on the peghead end in order to give it a personal design.
Also having a version with prerouted graphite rods slots would be great.

Anyone selling a already made neck must allow for the widest bridge they think will be used.
If your bridge is less wide then you may need to trim these necks from the sides to keep the outside strings the same distance from the edge of the neck.
I put the neck without fretboard on the body, position and glue the bridge on centerline FIRST.
I can then put tuners and outside strings on.
I can then see what I'll get. I then check the distance between both outside strings and the edge of the neck. I use the strings and a long straight edge to mark and trim the sides of the neck if necessary.
I can then slide a blank fretboard and temporarily glue it in place. The strings can help me mark the fretboard.
One way not to be suprised

... but I would have loved to have a bit more material to work with, specially at the nut area and the neck foot. Besides that it is as easy to work with as it can be.

The good was that it was easy to work with and got a finished result that was acceptable. The part that makes it not great is that it would have been preferable to have a wider peghead for cutting out a custom shape.

The only bad thing was that the peghead holes did not line up straight and the middle holes position causes strings to slide against other tuner pegs..

I've seen three (and used two)12 fret necks from Stewmac. The first ( received three years ago) I sent back because of the way the diamond seemed off center. (In reality I probably could have adjusted my carving to accommodate that.) The replacement was fine and worked well.
I ordered and received the third neck about three weeks ago and I felt it was a lot slimmer that either of the other two. I like to leave a little extra wood in these necks but will not be able to leave as much in this neck because it is already so slim. I'm sure it will be ok but I'd rather remove any extra wood myself.

These necks are a great time saver while making your own neck is good why not take advantage of Stew-Macs CNC machine. You still can be an artist with these necks and make them your own since they are only in an basic form. and the mahogany is really quite good.
