Clamps or binding tapes can be released from the glued bindings in an hour or less, and the bindings can be scraped flush after about 12-hours. 1.5-ounce tube.

Weld-On Cement is best for plastic bindings, or for plastic and wood bindings used together. It sets extremely quickly, so practice on scrap to get a feel for it, and don't try to glue long sections at once. It's thin enough to be worked into crevices. Clean up residue with acetone.

Contains methylene chloride, methyl ethyl ketone and acrylic resin.

Bad glue for painted guitars

The instructions leave out the fact that this stuff eats lacquer and I ruined the back of an expensive Martin guitar. Nothing in instructions warned of that possibility. Very poor, StewMac

Weld On Glue

A lot of fuss about this glue, but you should NOT try a binding job on any finished guitar! This is my 3rd telecaster binding project and I get glue everywhere, including trying the brush on type super glue. Don't worry about it, stick with StewMac Weld-On glue and you'll have a perfect binding job when its completed. You'll sand off the excess glue during the refinish work anyway. It is Far, Far better to sand off excess glue than to router out a poorly bonded binding job! I get the family to help with the binding job. I use a heat gun first to form the binding to the body and tape in place as I go. After the binding is formed and cool, remove the tape and it will be much easier to install. Later, have one person hold the binding, while the other applies the weld-on glue to the route channel. Have plenty of 3 inch pieces of StewMac tape lightly tacked to the edge of your workbench and grab them as needed. You'll have a perfect and professional looking job to be proud of. Remember - sanding is much better than having to remove a bad binding job and starting all over again!

Best cement for binding

Until now I have been using other adhesives for my plastic and celluloid binding. The Weld-on allowed me to move faster around the binding edge because it sets up more quickly. A nice clean job on a two ply binding.

Stew Mac Weld On Glue

Excellent Quality for securing Guitar Binding. There is enough glue in this tube to do probably 3 Telecaster Binding Projects. I used Stew Mac Binding Tape to hold the Binding until the Weld On Glue set, and it did a great job. Actually softens and fuses binding, so seams and splices are not a problem. BE CAREFUL.. If you get it on your fingers, it will stick to everything you touch. 5-Stars for this one !

Good stuff.

I've used this Cement a few times to hold plastic to wood - and love it. Holds tight, sets fast. Also see review of the binding tape and picture of use.

Very good for what it is

Once you get a feel for it, you can get into a real groove. The flow started a bit quick, but it is easily figured out. Probably won't need more for a while, but will definitely order it again.

glue for binding

this stuff work good but you have to understand that it dries really fast so do a small area as you go and used a small brush, I put on 3 layers of binding with this at one time and the guitar came out really good
