Cream Plastic Binding

I restore old Kay guitars in my down time and StewMac plastic binding is perfect. It's flexible, forms easily. It has good consistent color from 1 batch to the next. The edges are cut nice and clean for a perfect, seamless installation. Thanks

The binding works great! I would suggest to pre-bend it, use a hotplate for a coffee mug. It gives a larger surface area to heat, and doesn't get too hot to melt.

color is consitent between sizes. Thickness is also consistent. Would not use any other product on the market.

This binding material was very easy to work with, the color is a nice aged creme color and StewMac shipped it out quickly. Scraping and sanding was easy as well. One piece easily goes around a telecaster (one side) with plenty to spare.

1st time user trying to bind a fretboard. Easy to work with and I worked it to death so much it looked as vintage as my guitar after I finished it. Use a really sharp tool to cut like butter. Installed with CA and filled gaps between fret ends with CA. It came loose in spots due to all the cutting, but wicked in some CA and it is solid.

Pros: If you need enough to finish a standard LesPaul, three stripes will do ($15). The plastic glues well, shapes and cleans easily.

Cons: Besides white and "gibson cream", there are no more light colours, like ivory, parchment or bone. And if you're building a custom archtop, with pickguard, f-holes and multi-ply binding, your needs may reach 30 strips, which would set you back in more than $ 120. It is good plastic, but expensive in some cases.

I feel that cream colored binding gives an instrument a more vintage appearance than white binding does. This binding is easy to install,shape, and finish. It gives my banjos a warmth and luster instead of having a white glare along the edges of the fingerboard and resonator.
