ABS plastic bindings are used by Gibson®, Martin®, Taylor®, Fender® and others. The material adheres well to wood and to itself. Our ABS bindings are 65" long — a single piece will reach completely around a guitar body. They're made with smooth edges, not rough-sawn from sheets, for close size tolerances.

#4397 extra-tall .565" cream binding is the right size and color for Gibson® Les Paul® Guitar tops.

To laminate bindings, you can sandwich them using our Binding Laminator and acetone. Measure carefully before you rout the channels, and almost any combination can be installed.

In the example illustration,
A  is a white/black/white/black laminate of .010" strips,
B  combines .020" black and .040" white, and
C  uses .020" white and .020" black, installed sideways as edge trim.

For easy installation, we recommend Weld-On Cement.

Binding tape or rubber binding bands will hold the bindings in place while the glue dries.

Use a scraper blade to trim the glued bindings flush to the surrounding wood.

Binding

Seems to be a good product. I actually chose to go with Maple binding so have not used the plastic binding but I am looking forward to using it on my next guitar. It should make the binding process much easier than with the wood binding...

beautiful!

Very pleasant tone. Is ideally suited for Gibson guitars. The Gibson factory has established on mine Gibson LP Classic precisely such binding.

Beautiful Binding, Easy To Work With

This is great stuff. So easy to work with even a beginner couldn't get it wrong. The best method for application is good old super glue.

Nice Binding

Nice binding - one length is just enough to bind a LP type body (including the length of binding required to make ABS and Acetone glue).

cream binding .04" X .25"

nice color and works well. best to score the gluing side with course sandpaper prior to gluing, and must use a plastic glue like Devcon. Hide or carpenters glue will not hold.

Just the right stuff

After trying some different sizes, I found this one (.060 x .375) to be just the right stuff for Gibson-style fingerboard binding. It has the correct thickness and is tall enough to allow for shaping it around fret ends.

Easy to Fit & Finish

I ordered the wrong size (SM replaced it). I cut the old binding as square as I could and then fitted the new piece. The rest was simply glueing and sanding. I used SM binding glue. I am proud of the job and it looks great.
