SNAGG Microchip

Your odds of recovering a stolen instrument are not good. You'll want every advantage you can get! The SNAGG® Microchip is a tiny RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device), the size of a rice grain. It emits an alphanumeric code number that can be read by the SNAGG Scanner. The chip is designed to be permanently implanted inside your instrument. Every SNAGG chip code is unique. Your missing instrument can be scanned by a dealer and positively identified as belonging to you, even if the thief has removed or altered the instrument's original serial number.

Positive identification of your prized guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin or violin...amps too! Once installed, you simply register your SNAGG-equipped instrument at the SNAGG website for free. You're registered for life. If you sell your instrument, your registration can be transferred to the next owner at the website. SNAGG maintains the most complete worldwide database for the recovery of registered musical instruments. When you report your instrument lost or stolen at the website, that information becomes immediately available in the database.

The SNAGG Microchip requires no onboard power source, and won't affect the sound of even the most delicate instruments. Installation is simple, typically requiring only a 3/32" drill bit, epoxy or super glue, and a round toothpick as filler. The chip can be installed in an existing screw hole that's been deepened, or in an endblock, for example. The chip should be positioned to allow 2-3 inches scanning distance. The installation is permanent and will not be visible to a thief.

SNAGG Microchips are installed in Carvin, Baker, DeTemple and Fender Custom Shop guitars. SNAGG has enlisted the aid of the California Secondhand Dealer Investigators Association and the National Association of Property Recovery Investigators in the design of SNAGG's internet database. The SNAGG Microchip is not a GPS (Global Positioning System) device.
