Better than expected
Okay, I had recently gotten a sweet Heritage guitar (still made on Parsons Street, by the way), and wanted to replace the stock Schaller pickups, just as a lot of us do. I first went with a set of "handwound" pickups from someone else--and when they arrived they were funky--out of phase or something. Anyhow, I needed something else quickly for a recording project I am starting, so I came across these and ordered a set. Just installed them this week and let me tell you, they are the real deal! I'm still tweaking the height and pole-piece adjustments, but am in love with these already. Clear, warm, punchy, smooth. . .they have it all.

Rosewood Fretboard
Got to say this is the best sample of Rosewood I have seen and the fact I didn't have to cut the slots or pre radius it when it arrived made my life so much easier. It only took two days for it to arrive too. Great price and amazing service.

Credit is due
This tool is truly amazing. After posting my review (the previous review made here) I was sent a replacement Sliding Vise free of charge (it was perfectly square this time). What's right is right, and I'm just posting to give credit where credit is due. Hats off to you Stew Mac for following up with a loyal customer. As for the tool; my idea for a sliding rail attached to the station for the vice would add stability AND consistency. But for the skilled Luthier this station is invaluable as is. Keep in mind I previously used sanding blocks to painstakingly make nuts/saddles. I feel as if it paid for itself after making 2 nuts and a saddle in record time.

Waverly Vintage Ovals for my 1936 0-17
I have a lovely Martin 0-17 made in 1936 that I have owned since the eighties. When I bought it, the tuners were so worn that the guitar would slip out of tune onstage. So I replaced them with Grover Rotomatics, which fit in the same holes. The Grovers worked fine of course, but were heavier than the original Waverlys (which I kept).
So the guitar stayed in tune but was a little head heavy. Recently I saw that Stew-Mac was offering new versions of the originals, so I compared the factory tuners with Stew Mac's very helpful technical drawings. This showed an exact fit. The new tuners did fit perfectly, the screws went in the same holes, with no problems. The bushings fit in slightly loosely, but a couple of wraps with plumber's teflon snugged them up.
Expensive, but very worth it. The guitar now sounds great, and is restored to its proper look and headstock balance. Thank you, Stew Mac.

Stains well
This wood putty sets up soft, so it is good for gouges that are surrounded by good wood, but not near unsupported damage. However, it takes stain better than any other I have used. I even successfully used it to repair damage on a door surface which had to have the stain matched.

Not what I expected
I order this tip with a few pickup rings and a jack plate. They don't match the creme color very well, but in low light it shouldn't be noticeable. I also had fit problems, as it's much to large for an Epiphone..

Don't need all those parts....
I would like to be able to buy some of these parts separately. I have my own pole screws and keepers, baseplates etc. If you sold the parts separately I would probably buy them.

Best available
Disregard the previous reviewer's one star comment. These are still the best P90 covers anyone sells except for Gibson, if you want the extra money for a Gibson product. These are 50mm pole spread which IS correct for all P90's vintage or modern. The only problem with them is the soap bar covers will not fit into Gibson guitars routed for P90's. Gibson's covers are more square cornered than these. So with the wider more rounded corner on these soap bars they can't fit into Gibson P90 cavities. For every other guitar they work fine and are very good quality. Gibson covers have a better cream cover than these but not really an issue unless you're trying to match a Gibson guitar's parts. They won't fit Epiphone P90 neck pickups, also, as Epiphone uses a weird non-vintage pole spacing, that no vintage P90's ever had...

Gold pearl dots.
I have used the 1/4" pearl dots as fretboard position markers for years. The always fit the hole drilled by my 1/4" forstner bit.

Makes anything shine
I've used these to finishing a lot of different things, from the frets on my older brothers guitar to finishing the inlays for guitar I'm making. But the finish I used these for that I was most pleased with was the finish on an acrylic pen I made in shop class.

Original on original
When I'm rebuilding or restoring a veteran instrument, it's nice to have it in as near to original as possible at the end (unless you're totally hot rodding it, that is). I always hold to that golden rule and my customers like it that way.

Essential piece of kit
This tool is an essential piece of equipment for every person who owns a guitar with a pin bridge. In my workshop I spend at least a total of two hours every week digging broken pins from out of peg holes. Pliers, sidecutters, screwdrivers and a host of other inappropriate tools all lead to pin breakage and damage to the bridge timber. I recommend this item to every person whose guitar I service.

Essential hardware
A set of these is on every guitar and strap I own and on every rebuild I do. I have to repair the cosmetic and structural damage caused by worn holes in straps fitted to dropped guitars. A $25 solution to a potential $300 or more problem.
