Jaws 2 works well
It works fine to squeeze in the frets. I found that it was necessary to start at one end of the fret and work across the fingerboard, but that's not a significant drawback. Given that the brass inserts are unlikely to ever exactly match the fingerboard curvature, it will be necessary in any event. A fatter handle or T-handle would be nice to apply the needed torque. As another reviewer noted, it won't work for the last few frets on a classical guitar. For those I use an ebony caul and regular C-clamps. Despite these quibbles, it's a good tool and I'm glad I have it.

Fret erasers work fine
The fret erasers appear to work quite well at polishing up the frets once the shaping and cleanup have been done. Don't expect them to remove a significant amount of metal, burrs, etc. It's important to protect the fretboard with tape

Rock N' Lock Roller Bridge
I had a Bigsby B7 professionally installed along with Stewart Mac's Locking Roller Bridge on my Epiphone Dot. I recommend you do the same. I was told the bridge didn't quite fit and further modifications were required, but all in all I'm more than fully satisfied with the functionality of the bridge... It was well worth the extra money and effort!

fret end dressing file
Brilliant piece of kit. Fast efficient delivery. A sad reflection on the UK in that I have to shop in the States to buy a peice of precision equipment like this.
Service and delivery almost as fast as buying on line here. Will certainly shop at Stewart-MacDonald again.

HUGE step up from a Friction Peg for minimal price
I'm a guitar player who bought and loved an older Silvertone banjo. However, that friction fifth peg drove me bonkers. If you have one, you probably know what I mean.
I bought this one, not wanting to put a bunch of money in the banjo, just wanting to make it playable, along with item # 5017 to replace the tired original cheap tuners. For about $26 and some elbow grease, it's like a have a new banjo. It stays in tune, retunes when I change into a new tuning, and is just overall much more fun.

ColorTone Touchup Markers
The markers work great on small area touch ups. I decided to try the baking soda/superglue filler for the first time. It worked fine, but it does not take the marker color very well, on about fourth application and white still shows. I know Dan's tip was to mix a colored dry dye, I think with this method that's necessary. But pens work super!

Router 3/8 bit with bearing
The story is that I add purchase a télécaster Ash body and the neck pocket was to shallow by 1/16 to fit a standard neck. So I purchace the 3/8 bit to match the radius of the pocket corners. Did a test run on a scrap piece of wood, , then use a neck templare to do the routing,. This bit is of best quality and the finish was perfect, in fitted the neck in the pocket and all was level. Thanks to SM for there good tools and tips.

Black
I find that it blends in better with dark mahogany. Not too shiny but probably more than the "silver".

Nice
I bought the gibson type. It was not for a pickguard - instead it was for a truss rod cover. These do a better job than slotted screws. A screwdriver slips more easily on a slotted screw; often denting the headstock.

Purist tone
Let me start by making it clear that I'm not a beginner, or novice guitarist. I've been playing for over 22 years & in that time I've owned Gibbo, Fender CS, Fralin, Rio Grande, Loller, Dimarzio, Duncan & many other quality pups. I've owned & played many collectible & coveted guitars.I read all the reviews on Stew Mac's Golden age pups, I mean ALL the reviews. I'm pretty cynical & very obsessive when it comes to tone also, so while I expected tone on par with a production Dimarzio or possibly a Duncan I wasn't expecting to be blown away. I'll say this, the Golden age ALNICO V yields a very complex, subtle & organic tone. These pups are well worth 2-3 times the cost, and that's not an overstatement. Again, I have played through a lot of high line pups, some vintage models that have a street value 10 times what these Golden age pups cost, & I have no reason to steer anyone in the wrong direction on this. I'm a tone snob straight up & the fact that these pups have impressed me this much is quite honestly pretty amazing, period... I did relic the thing up a bit so as it would not look out of place on my Strat.

Great sandpaper
This sandpaper is great. I use it mainly for sanding and polishing the aluminum parts on the pickup winders I build.
