ColorTone Waterbase Lacquer
Directions for use
|

i-5570 Updated 05/06
Preparation
Mix well. Stir gently, do not shake. Allow air bubbles to settle before straining and pouring into spray equipment.
ColorTone waterbase products require a clean, dust-free, wax-free surface for optimum performance. New wood should be sanded to 220-grit, vacuumed and blown dust free. If the surface has been contaminated with oils or waxes, wipe down with an equal mix of denatured alcohol and water. If the surface has been modified, clean and test waterbase products compatibility before proceeding.
Application
Waterbase finish doesn’t look wet and glossy as you’re spraying, unlike nitrocellulose lacquer. Be careful not to lay it on too thick, looking for that glossy wetness. Good lighting is very important. Spray light coats, carefully overlap your spray pattern by 1/3-1/2 for coverage with uniform thickness.
Optimum spraying condition is 70°F, and 45-60% relative humidity. Dry, oil and dirt-free air with proper ventilation is a must.
For gravity feed gun, 40-60 psi with a tip size of 1.3mm is recommended.
For siphon feed gun, tip size of 1.8mm is recommended.
Waterbase Retarder or water can be added to reduce viscosity. When hot/dry conditions cause the finish to dry too fast, thin with 5%-15% Waterbase Retarder.
Clean up
Clean spray equipment with warm, clean water immediately after each use. Do not leave lacquer in the spray gun for more than a few hours at a time. Remove dried finish with very hot water and alkaline cleaner (all purpose cleaners, degreasers and strippers). Store unused lacquer in a sealed container and clean gun between uses.
Keep out of the reach of children.
