Nut making is bread-and-butter work for the professional shop, and getting it right makes your customers happy. The whole process is presented: removing the old nut, making a top-quality replacement nut, and final shaping, polishing and installation.

Adjusting the neck Tapping out the nut Scribing/heating/cutting the finish Analyzing and preparing the nut slot Choosing a nut blank Fitting a nut blank: techniques for Fender, Gibson and Martin Laying out the string spacing Lowering the slots Shaping, sanding and polishing Gluing the nut Finishing.

This DVD shows a lot of information about nut-making! I have books about it, but it is nice to see the actual procedure in a video. For someone just getting started in this field, this and other videos you carry, really show how its done and have boosted my confidence in attempting this delicate work! Cheers!

Thanks Dan!

Making and adjusting a nut is probably the most difficult part of repair. This DVD takes you step by step through the process. Great product as usual from Stew-Mac

I usually pay $250 for a bone bridge and $150 for a bone saddle. Now I do it myself. This video is excellent to get started. Just remember Dan has been making these for a long time and makes it look easy, don't do your first one on your Martin! Well worth the money just to learn what they do with your guitar!

great instructions, bad picture

Dan's Instructions on this DVD are fantastic, as always. You'll get all the information on nutmaking you need to become an expert with some practice and experience.

However, watching the DVD is very tiring because the camerawork is poor. Because of the subtle subject of the DVD, there's lots of closeups but most of the time the area in question is out of focus. You'll be trying to see what Dan is doing on the nut but it's the floral pattern of his shirt that's in focus. It's a nice shirt but I would prefer to see what he's doing with that file.
