Hex Truss Rod Wrenches

About This Item

Heavy-duty wrenches for hex truss rod nuts, including the familiar 5/16" Gibson® rod. 10-3/4" (27.31cm) overall length keeps your knuckles safely away from the peghead.

Our veteran guitar technicians developed these high quality steel truss rod wrenches for the repair shop. The length, comfortable rubberized handles, durability, and variety of sizes let you perform truss rod adjustments efficiently.

Not all truss rod cavities are the same width. Make sure the wrench will fit your cavity by comparing the outer diameter of the wrench barrel to your guitar.

Wrench Outer diameter
#6101 For 1/4" nut 0.390" (9.91mm)
#6102 For 9/32" nut 0.410" (10.41mm)
#6103 For 5/16" nut 0.440" (11.18mm)

These tools are available in our money-saving Truss Rod Wrench Set.

Good overall design.

I like this wrench's length and excellent grip. The depth of the nut pocket was too shallow to use on my Epiphone. I had to modify the pocket depth by putting it on a lathe and drilling it deeper. It worked very well after that.

Great for Rickenbackers

I was looking for a 1/4-inch hex wrench to adjust the double truss rods of a rick 4003 bass. The guys at Chicago Music Exchange recommended I check out StewMac and found exactly what I was looking for. The wrench fits in between the truss rods perfectly without damaging the finish. The length makes it even easier to use. Overall, well worth the money. Fast shipping, too!

Contacted StuMac before I purchased this. They responded, "Sorry Unable to cross reference". So, I guessed.....and guessed right. It's a 1/4. Wrench worked great. Restoration continues!!

Truss rod wrenches

Excellent tools! Trying to find a skinny socket wrench to fit into a guitar truss rod is a pain. These wrenches are the perfect tool for tightening and loosening truss rods with a nut. So glad I found them!

Great for Peavey guitar, but not bass

By

I have a Peavey Predator and a Gibson LP Deluxe. This wrench fits into the truss rod pocket fine for those instruments, but it will not fit into the pocket at the correct angle for a Peavey bass. The stock angle is wrong and requires a pocket style wrench. Otherwise, it is a quality tool that performed adjustments well.

Fits Rick Bass - I forgot to add this

Forgot to add - the nut driver/wrench is plenty long for the handle to clear the headstock

Truss Rod Wrench 1/4 fits Rickenbacker Bass

I wondered if the walls of the driver end might be too thick to fit around the truss rod nuts since there is not much space between them and the wood. As it turns out, it fits - snugly - but it did work on both my Rickenbacker 4003 basses. VERY quick shipping - great price! I'll buy from StewMac again for sure. Might get another one of these in different size for my Gibson guitar.

Ever round out a truss rod nut, and can't turn it?

By

I recently rounded out a truss rod nut on a CC Gibson Les Paul, trying to take out some relief. I was using the typical Gibson wrench, you know the one that you turn a right angles to the axis of torque (looks like a little pipe). Well , I messed up the nut and stopped dead in my tracks before it was a lost cause. I got on the site and ordered this wrench for the gibson nut thinking the power of a better wrench might get me out of this jam. And lo and behold, - with ease I backed out the rounded nut, and put on a fresh new nut, and was able to use the power of this wrench to adjust the neck perfectly. Everyone should have one, instead of that other thing.
