Binding Router Bit Set

Rout clean, precise ledges for practically any binding combinations.

Our clean-cutting carbide-tipped cutter has a 1/4" shank to fit your router, an Allen screw with wrench for installing a depth-of-cut bearing, and a special extension bushing for "stairstep" ledges.

Money-saving sets add depth-of-cut bearings sized specifically for binding routing jobs, and for flush-trimming guitar tops and backs. Instructions included. Router bit and bearings are also available separately.

Tip: All our bearings are now sized for exact cutting depth. Remember to allow for swelling of wood fibers from gluing, as well as for the thickness of the glue itself. Glued plastic binding will swell considerably as it absorbs the glue solvents. Wood bindings glued with wood glues that contain water will swell also. To minimize final scraping and sanding, we recommend installing a short length of binding on routed scrap wood first, to test the fit.

#1298 Standard Binding Router Bit Set
Bearings in the Standard set are for common binding thicknesses (listed below), and match our bindings, including Herringbone purfling. Flush bearing is for trimming glued bindings, and newly assembled guitar tops and backs.

This set takes the calculations out of trying to set the depth of cut for binding slots. Measure thickness of binding, then select the correct bearing. It's that simple.

Binding Router bit set

By
(Customer's Reviews)

This set worked great for me on my first two guitars. I had problem however keeping up with the bearing sizes and dropping the bearings every time I took them out to use. I made myself a carrying case out of an old plastic tool case with some scrap wood and 1/4 inch dowel rod. I use a rubber band to hold them in place when stored. See attached photo.
