Gripper Truss Rod Wrenches

About This Item

Dang! Somebody used the wrong size wrench, and now you can't adjust that worn Allen truss rod nut. Fear not, our Gripper wrenches can save the day!

Each wrench has a 3/8"-long end that tapers from slightly undersize to slightly oversize, giving you a snug fit to turn the nut and avoid a costly replacement job.

Our veteran guitar technicians developed these high quality steel truss rod wrenches. The length, comfortable rubberized handles, durability and variety of sizes let you perform formerly difficult truss rod adjustments with ease. The straight wrenches are 12-1/2" long, keeping your knuckles safely away from the peghead.

#6210-G Gripper wrench has a special angled handle for tuner clearance on 6-in-line pegheads. For 1/8" Allen nut; 2" reach.

Special notes for the soundhole wrenches
4mm is for Hot Rod truss rods. #6110-G is for pre-August 2007 Martins; #6114-G and #6212-G are for later Martins. Triple-bend wrenches provide clearance under the guitar's braces.

As a repair shop I see more stripped out truss rods from people not using the correct allen wrench.
best money I ever spent.

I picked up a freebee Fender bass, and it had been sitting for decades. When I tried to set it up, I saw someone buggere he truss rod nut BAD!!! I tried all my allens, and even ground a few to try to get it loosened.. No go... Figured I would give this a try before I went shopping for a new neck... It took a whole 30 seconds to get the trussrod nut off using this!!! It was amazing!! WELL worth the money, and I'm cheap!!

Absolute Life Saver.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about the Gripper wrenches. I recently found a 1997 California series Stratocaster in a beautiful candy apple red color for sale at my local music store. The guitar was on consignment and was an absolute steal. Got her home, restrung it, started my set up all seemed really good. After awhile (of having much much heavier strings on it) I noticed the relief was a bit more than I cared for on my necks. I went to fine tweak the truss rod and sure enough it was completely stripped. I was about to return the guitar when I found this on Stew Mac and thought for $20 shipped I would give it a try. Dropped it down into the truss nut and low and behold it gripped and began to turn. Super product, a little more expensive than seems necessary, but considering it saved me a return on a super guitar or even a replacement neck (which is honestly a bit of a deal breaker) I really cannot complain. It does what it says it does and saved my Candy Apple Red baby. Thank you, for engineering such an awesome tool. Loved it so much, I am going to buy a set of the regular hex adjustment wrenches as well. So easy to get to the nut and not mess with a short hex key or scraping my knuckles against strings/tuners. Again couldn't be happier with it.

I'm sure for some, it's a quick fix. For me however, it did nothing but make the situation worse.

Review of the Gripper Truss Rod Wrenches

The gripper did not work it all on my Warwick Bass with a stripped nut. No grip at all, completely useless. It just spins without turning the nut.

Good tool.

This tool worked, the truss rod turned and all was well. For the price, even if it didn't work, it wasn't a huge investment, and it would have been worth the try.

The tool did exactly as advertised ! Wonderful idea, and will not damage my stripped nut on my very expensive 5 string Ken Smith bass any further! Overjoyed !
