Endpin Jack Reamer

About This Item

This machined steel 2-step reamer is made specifically for enlarging a guitar endpin hole to accept a 15/32" or 1/2"-diameter endpin jack.

It won't chip the finish, and it's semi-fluted to help keep the hole round.

The 3/8" shank can be chucked in a hand drill for slow reaming. The upper 1" cutting length is 1/2" diameter; the 1" center section is 15/32" diameter, and the lower 2-5/8" section has a standard 5-degree endpin taper to 1/4".

Must have gear

I languished so hard over this purchase thinking if I am just careful with a 1/2" drill... Broke down got one, used it to add electronics to a 000-15m and I am so Happy I reamed the endpin hole using this rather than drilling. This tool is very sharp cutting through wood like butter. Electric jack holes end up snug and tight fitting as can be. no chatter, chipping, splintering. worth it. now all my buds and bandmates are after me to add piezo to their acoustics. Keep the tool sharp storing in box while not in use.

You need this tool

A long tine ago I learned that you cannot ream the end pin hole with a drill bit or file and have it both straight and without the horror of chipping the edge of the hole so that it is visible to the player upon inspection. This tool is easy to use, is really sharp and makes a strait cut every time.

Bought this for installation for acoustic guitar pickups. Saved me a lot of time and blisters on my hand. Before this I did it with my hand reamer. Great stuff!

Endpin Reamer  digs the right hole

Bought one to enlarge the endpin hole on Gibson mandolin in order to fit new larger endpin. My woodworker friend, Charley, helped my use it correctly to get perfect hole for the new pin. We practiced on scrap wood to get exact diameter hole, tool cut very easily with hand-drill, and first practice try we went too far. Second practice hole was perfect, marked depth on reamer with tape, and then used on mando to get exact size hole, and endpin fit perfectly. If going to complete diameter of drill for jack, this should not be problem.

The very best tool for the job.

I wanted to put a Baggs M80 soundhole pickup in one of my favorite acoustic guitars. To do that, I had to enlarge the endpin hole to one-half inch. I wanted to do that job myself, but I didn't want to chip the finish or wind up with an oval hole. The Stew Mac endpin reamer was perfect for the job. Because of its long taper, it is self-aligning. I put the reamer in my drill, set the drill on it's low speed range, and just took my time. I stopped often to clean out the flutes of the reamer and the result was flawless.

Pretty great!

I used it to install K&K Pure pickups in two guitars and it was excellent. Be careful to go slowly, and keep the bit perpendicular to the guitar. I had to make a few adjustments to the first hole I drilled, but it all turned out fine in the end.

This is the best thing I ever bought from Stewmac.
It prevents the possibility of serious damage to the instrument and works perfectly, gives you the ability to size the hole precisely for the jack.
Well worth the price!
