Adjustable Toggle Switch Wrench

About This Item

Here's a special wrench that's ideal for the round knurled mounting nuts on Gibson® pickup selector switches.

Your pliers WILL mar the nut — this is a much safer tool, with adjustable chuck-style jaws for a good non-slip grip. Thanks to the deep socket, you won't even have to remove the switch knob. Made of sturdy steel with durable plastic handle.

Can't live without this tool.

If you have a Les Paul and don't have one of these tools, it's just a matter of time before you will get one. It can be adjusted to fit, and perfectly grabs that annoying switch nut and tightens it to torque---yes, I said "torque". The wrench is torqued so that you don't over-tighten it and ruin your nut or switch. Amazing and HIGHLY recommended!!

Pretty good...a few issues

So, like many others I have usually used a pliers - very carefully - and Blue tape to tighten the loose pickup selector on my Gibsons. Recently, I became aware of this tool and figured -Why Not!. So it arrived and I set about to tighten the perpetually loose knurled retainer nut. Right away there was a minor issue. My LP has no "chip" (treble/bass label), so I was pretty sure the tool was going to scratch the top. First I put a bunch of Blue tape on, but this was not very helpful as it required lots of tape and then the tool would not grab the retainer nut located on the sloped top of the LP. Next, i made a little "shroud" - see pic - out of a file card by making an impression of the tool on the file card and cutting out the disc. This worked fine. But still the tool, was very stiff to turn...the threads are rather poorly cut and it was hard to turn while holding on the nut. I opened and closed it a few times & it loosened up a bit, but it was still tricky to get the tool completely around the nut and make sure it sat as flat as possible. I found the best position to do this is with the guitar vertical in a stand, so I can hold the switch in back, place the tool, and turn it without it slipping. The tool is a good improvement and the whole process took only 10-15min -next time 5min. I have lots of other SM tools and would say this one is not up to the traditional quality I expected. But it worked.....so it was a success.

I refurbish vintage radios. Most radios that have toggle switches have knurled nuts. For the longest time I carefully used pliers to loosen and tighten the nuts and some times left marks on the nut. This Toggle Switch Wrench works great and doesn't leave a mark on the nut.

Used on Boat

You should advertise in boating mags. I used this tool to tighten my toggle switches on by older boat. New boats have rocker switches. Tool prevents scratches on my dashboard. Most everyone else uses needle nose pliers which always scratch the dashboard on the boat. Tool works great

Not quite big enough

Tool is a great idea, but I had to unscrew it all the way and pry the grippers open so it would fit around the nut of a metric and a standard toggle switch retainer nut.

Works as advertised and doesn't mar the toggle switch nut the way a pair of pliers would. Good tool.

Purchased a double-end plastic Toggle Switch Wrench (from other seller) and neither end would fit the switch nuts. This is a solid, well made tool that gets the job done.

Indispensable!

I have been playing for over 30 years. How did I not have one of these in my tool box all that time? So glad I purchased it. This tool and a dab of blue loctite and you'll never have another loose pickup selector!
