Great kit

I used this to rewire my MIM Telecaster while also changing the pickups.

Most of my motivation for the rewire was that the stock wiring harness was very sloppy with tons of excess wire, burnt insulation on wires, and bad solder joints. The selector switch on my guitar was also very floppy despite not being very old. The switch would not stay in the middle position while playing.

There was plenty of wire in this kit for me and the instructions were clear and matched the stock wiring diagram. The only difference is the type of wire, types of capacitors, and the presence of the treble bleed capacitor. The stock wiring in my guitar did not include the treble bleed.

Everything in the kit worked out greats. The pots are smooth and provide better adjustment, the selector switch is rock solid, and I am happy with the treble bleed. The output jack is also a good bit firmer than the stock one. I was able to use a lot less wire than the stock harness and the 60/120hz noise in the guitar was reduced which is a pleasant benefit.

Great customers support!

It has not not been installed yet but surely looks well made and a high quality stuff. It arrived well and carefully packed. I have to highlight the excellence regarding to StewMac's customers support. My order was lost in transit probably due to some issue with the postal service. All i had to do was to contact StewMac by a simple e-mail. I was very well attended by the customers service and they kindly told me that they would send me a replacement, that simple. It arrived about ten or twelve days after this which is really sooner than i expected considering that i live in Brazil. It was my first experience buying from StewMac and surely won't be the last.

Now quiet Telecaster

I have always had extraneous noise from my 1970's era Telecaster. This kit not only quieted my guitar but also improved the sound. Great tone and very effective volume control. Really quite easy to install with the right soldering tools.

A great one stop shopping solution to upgrade a Tele.

This kit upgraded a beautifully playing 1996 '62 CIJ Telecaster Custom. I've done this upgrade with the same parts twice before. This time, it was nice to just click one button from one vendor. This kit is a sonic upgrade to a Tele using lesser quality parts. The biggest difference is the individual note clarity when chording. There is simply less mud. Dynamics are also affected. Pick angle/attach differences are more clearly delineated. The guitar is now much closer to my ’52 Tele AVRI in this respect after the parts swap. The top end is opened up. It’s not brighter, but there is more clarity to the overtones that actually sweetens the sound. Lastly, the bass has more weight. Simply, the low E string has real meat.

A note to folks with CIJ/MIJ Teles: The CTS pots need a bigger hole than the stock CIJ control plate so you need to drill. Also, the stock dome knobs openings are too small for the CTS pots. Again you can drill this. Since I prefer to be able to return a guitar to stock, I bought the StewMac control plate and chrome dome top knobs to fit the replacement pots. The replacement pots are heavier than the stock Japanese knobs, so the controls now have a weighty, substantial feel. I think this is a must have for any Telecaster that isn't already equipped with the better parts.

Good quality kit

I decided my Tele needed some new electronics. I was actually surprised at how much this kit dug my '92 MIM Tele out of the mud! Easy upgrade as long as you know how to solder.

Great Kit

This is a great kit. I consider myself a novice when it comes to guitar electronics and when putting together a parts telecaster, I was unsure on what capacitors to use, etc. This kit made life much easier. I might have saved a couple $ buying components independently, but the time it saved me was well worth it.

Big difference

This was a big upgrade to what was inside my Japanese Tele. I didn't install this myself. The guitar luthier (paul unkert nj) that installed the kit said that something didn't fit (with the Japenese parts) but was able to make it work using a drill. I not sure what it was exactly but he got it in there and my tele sounds excellent!
