Premium Wiring Kit for P-Bass

Ordered this to fix a student's bass that was missing some internal wires. The parts that came with the kit seemed like much higher quality than what was in the Fender Squire P bass originally. The instructions that came with the kit were adequate considering that I have not done too much wiring of instruments. The cotton insulation on the supplied wires was a bit difficult to deal with, but all said and done, this kit was exactly what I needed and I was very happy when I found it on the SM website. Recommended.

I have a Squier P-bass that had a scratchy volume pot. My first thought was to take it to a guitar repair shop and have them change it out. After doing an internet search I found the StewMac website, saw the listing for the premium wiring kit and bought it. The instructions were easy to follow and the installation went very well. I plugged the bass into my amp and noticed a distinct improvement in the sound. An added bonus - the cost of the kit was less than what a shop would have charged!

Getting every piece of wiring in one package is way too easy. As a novice of wiring up basses this made my life a heck of a lot easier.

Installing the shielded braided push-back wire from the Jack to the pots created issues with poor grounds. It was difficult in stripping clean wire ends. Ended up using the black wire instead for both the positive and negative connections. Overall Great components.

Everything about this experience is/was a TEN. I wired my own P-BASS and it's like a new instrument. What initially gave me pause [doing it myself] turned out to be rather straight-forward and again, the sound and subtlety is insane! Plus shipping/packaging/timing. A+.

Installation went smoothly on a 90s korean P bass. Although, i had to drill out my 6mm knobs to fit on the new 1/4" pots. New pots are nice and smooth and seem to be high quality.

Anytime I acquire a used bass, I replace the sub standard wiring with all new wiring from Stew Mac. For me it's a no brainer. Quality pots and wiring.

Use a hot soldering iron, crimp the wire and use a small amount of solder, make sure to pull apart if single wire from pick up the white in the center is hot + and the strands of wire on th outer casing is the ground to pot top there tiny but it needs to be done. Make sure to install new wire crimp as before sometimes there are two in in one hole so put them in first then solder small amount hot. Follow instructions for wiring. When it comes to grounding to the pot use the edge, get the pot hot use a small amount of solder and do them one at a time. The instruction wiring diagram is good except for the two wires going to the jack I wired them backwards so make sure to to ground to the right pot it should be more clear I'm not an electrical diagram reader but the rest is self explanatory. Thanx Jim Peck That's my view

I added this kit and a couple of Seymour Duncan pick-ups to a cheap Rouge with a nice neck and wow! I have Bass Guitar that sounds and plays a high end Bass.
