Anytime I acquire a used bass, I replace the sub standard wiring with all new wiring from Stew Mac. For me it's a no brainer. Quality pots and wiring.

Maco Traditionals P Bass

Use a hot soldering iron, crimp the wire and use a small amount of solder, make sure to pull apart if single wire from pick up the white in the center is hot + and the strands of wire on th outer casing is the ground to pot top there tiny but it needs to be done. Make sure to install new wire crimp as before sometimes there are two in in one hole so put them in first then solder small amount hot. Follow instructions for wiring. When it comes to grounding to the pot use the edge, get the pot hot use a small amount of solder and do them one at a time. The instruction wiring diagram is good except for the two wires going to the jack I wired them backwards so make sure to to ground to the right pot it should be more clear I'm not an electrical diagram reader but the rest is self explanatory. Thanx Jim Peck That's my view

I added this kit and a couple of Seymour Duncan pick-ups to a cheap Rouge with a nice neck and wow! I have Bass Guitar that sounds and plays a high end Bass.

great vintage style wiring kit.

I bought this to accompany an Aguilar pickup on a vintage style build. It's really great. I ended up replacing the orange drop cap with a NOS paper in oil capacitor, and I couldn't be happier. My only complaint was that one of the potentiometers was split shaft.

A good wiring kit for your instrument.

Works good, especially if you use their directions. I originally was using a Seymour Duncan diagram for this kit, and would not work properly.

Perfect

I'm building a replica late 60's Pbass and this kit is perfect! (Short of finding original, second hand parts). Stew Mac everytime.

However, I'd like to see them do kits which include the pickup hookup wires and knobs as well. I think it's a bit cheeky that this isn't an added option.

This upgrade really rocks on my Squire p-bass. I got way better lows and smother mids.

A Game Changer!

I am a professional bass player who uses less expensive gear to gig. With less expensive typically comes lesser quality electronics. I did a swap on 2 of my Squier Precisions (1 Affinity & 1 P-Bass Special) and the improvement in tone with the stock pickups is incredibly noticeable. The tone is deeper and more full and the feel of the controls is just...well...better. I HIGHLY recommend this swap for anyone with a base model Squier. I would do this swap before changing pickups, you'll be VERY surprised and delighted with the new tone!

premium P-Bass wiring kit

By

I was given a 'Down the Basement Special" old 1997 Squier P-Bass which had been abandoned, forgotten and then found under a pile of debris and old boxes. It was a mess. I took it on as a project, and began with Stew Mac's Golden Age P-Bass Pickup and the premium wiring kit. The parts fit perfectly, the high quality of the CTS pots and the cloth push back wiring have been a delight to use. I had a lot to do to bring this bass back from the junk pile, but it's now a totally cool custom Bass that can hold its own onstage with the best of them. The combination of the Golden Age Pickup and this wiring kit gives a great sound through my Roland Cube 60 Bass Amp. Thanks StewMac...
