Details

Universal acoustic pickup! A popular basic piezo transducer with wide-range response, for the underside of a soundboard.

Works for a variety of instruments and installs easily with the supplied adhesive. The shielded cable is 18" long.

Includes the Fishman Switchjack: a stereo jack that can be used for mono, stereo, or mono with battery switching capabilities. Like all passive transducers, this pickup does not require a battery. The Switchjack™ tightens from outside the guitar, and accepts a standard 1/4" (6.35mm) plug. 1/2" (12.70mm) diameter mounting hole required. An impedance-matching preamp is recommended, but not required.

BEST CHEAP PICKUP!

By Simon Tan from Australia
(Customer's Reviews) Saturday, March 01, 2014

I bought this transducer based on its good reviews and because I didn't want to spend too much on my cheap acoustic. I was very impressed with the quality of the sound. I installed a simple preamp along with it, and it sounded much better. It really captures the characters of the acoustic guitar, giving a very natural sound as though it were mic'ed up. Would definitely recommend it over some other pickups especially if you're on a tight budget. I also followed the placement instructions for the sweet spot so you might want to try it there too.

Good Bargain

Although hard to position the element in an "A" style mandolin the pickup has done well. It needs a preamp to round out the sound and using double-sided cushioned tape for the element makes it sound less tinny. I put it in a lower end Washburn with solid results. Drilling through the tail stock was a snap and I used a sheet metal hole expander to do the brass tail piece.

3916 transducer only

I bought two and soldered them to a 3914 endpin jack I already had. I mounted them at opposite ends of the bridge inside the body of my Fender F3 acoustic. Sound is superb. The hookup wire on the transducer is verrrry delicate, it took several tries to strip back the insulation without damaging the wire. If you are not into this I would recommend the pre assembled rig.

Easy install and great sound. Easily picks up the full spectrum of sound. Combine this with a good quality amp and be ready to wow 'em!

schatten transducer

I used 2 transducers linked to the same jack to amplify a friends celtic harp. Placed inside the instrument, on the soundboard, one a third of the distance from the bottom, the other a third of the distance from the top as near as possible to the the central string attachment bar. I glued each transducer to a thin slice of spruce using cyanoacrylate glue, then the slice of spruce to the soundboard with double sided adhesive tape, to make them removable. I use the schatten preamp "mini pre" after having boosted the gain by turning the tiny potentiometer placed inside the preamp near the battery, the result is very good; it works even better with a more sophisticated preamp. We are very happy.

I installed this transducer in my A style mandolin that I built.I had to attach it to underside of the top before I put the instrument together. Now I cannot access it if I want to reposition it.Lucky for me it sounds good.

I bought 4 of these for 2 guitars a ukuelele and a Martin Back Packer.
I had the whole project done in about two hours. This was the very first time I did anything like this.
I must say I was very pleased at how easy they were to install. The sound quality is great! Over all this was well worth the cash that I invested.
