Good value for a beginner like myself.

Bought this for a strat copy made by Samick that was gifted to me that had a bad volume know. I am a beginner player so didn't need anything fancy and was reluctant to buy the cheap variety found in other places. All the sauter joints and wiring is neat. 2 wire installation was easy but mounting was a little harder as it didn't fit my guitar exactly so need the upper right hand neck pocket bit cut. The screws didn't all line up either so had to drill new holes. Only bad part about it was the pickguard edges still show mill marks so does not look as neat and finished as what came on my guitar. Since I have only ever played 1 guitar I cannot comment on sound quality but I think it sounds pretty good and much better than what was replaced .

Craigslist 70s Lotus L680 hiding out in a dark closet begging to be loved. $45.00 for a prewired guard/pup setup? Nah.........but wait! It actually sounds great! Don't forget to foil every nook and cavity! To all of us who see beauty in those "lost and abandoned" children, StewMac brings em home!

I bought loaded pick guards so I wouldn't have to wait for my pickups to come in. They were there when they said they would. Now I'm ready to build again.

A pawn shop to it's highest level!

Several years ago I picked up a pawn shop Sier Strat that was really solid. This pickguard assembly was my final tweaking to it and now I wouldn't sell this for twice what I originally paid! I kept the original tri colored pickguard (like its look better!) and after swapping over the electronics was like a new guitar. This was an exceptional upgrade - it always played really well and now it has the sound to match! At this price there is no reason not to upgrade a decent lower end instrument to reach it's full potential. Best $40 I've spent on guitar improvements in ten years!

Quick and easy

This pre-wired pickguard dropped right in to an old beater guitar that I was rebuilding. I had the jack and ground wires soldered in less than a half-hour. When I plugged in, it sounded like a standard Strat. No complaints!

Morris Strat Redivivus

Easy to fit for a very nervous first-time solderer. Sounds much better than the originals on a 1982 Japanese Morris Strat, originally bought for the equivalent of $40. Also added a Gotoh bridge — makes all the difference, as the original bridge was really substandard.

Loaded Strat Pickguard A+

Thumbs up on this. I was tasked with loading a stripped down Squire. This was a very economical and quick way to do it.
The supplied Pguard was cheap-looking (expected for the price) and would have lined up with the existing holes "fairly well". I opted to remove the parts and mount to the guitars original guard. No problems, sounds great!

Black Pre-wired Pickguard Assembly

I ordered this item to replace the pickguard and pick-ups on a pawn shop-rescued 2002 Indonesian-made Squier Stratocaster. After a complete refurbishing of the guitar body, I didn't really want to spend too much on the electronics to start with, so this item fit my needs. I have only two complaints. First, the screw holes did not line up very well, but I expected this from previous experiences on other guitars. I realize that having a one-size-fits-all pickguard is impractical and I made adjustments as needed. Second, it would be nice if the bridge pickup was wired to the tone control, at least as an option. Aside from these two issues, the pickguard made a worn guitar look much better, and the pickups sound really good considering the affordable price. They have more body to their sound than my stock Fender Telecaster's pickups and they sound good with overdrive. The service I received from Stewart-MacDonald was excellent. I am a first time customer and I will continue to be a customer. I think my three star rating is fair considering the extra holes I had to drill to fit the pickguard, and having to wire the bridge pickup to the tone control myself. All things considered, I can recommend this item to someone looking to replace some old and worn out parts on a cheaper project guitar or a pawn shop rescue of an otherwise well-built guitar. It is an excellent value and choice for someone on a tight budget that is looking for a decent sounding set of generic strat pickups.

Not Exact Fit

Was hoping to pop this prewired assembly right into my Epiphone S-310 Start copy. Unfortunately, the screw holes did not lineup and the electronics and switch were slightly offset. Rather than routing out the newly refinished body, I elected to swap out the pickups, pots and switch back over to my 30 year old pick guard which fit the body precisely. Still a work in progress.
