Product Details

Straight-up raw vintage! Closely modeled after an outstanding vintage P.A.F. set from our own collection. That sweet tone was just too good to keep to ourselves!

True vintage sound.
We christened these exceptional humbuckers in tribute to the famous Kalamazoo address where the holy grail of pickups, the legendary P.A.F. (Patent Applied For), was born.

Just like the originals, the slug coil has more windings than the polepiece coil, and both coils are unpotted. Old P.A.F.s weren't made in separate neck and bridge-position models, and their DC resistance varied from 7-9K ohms. We give you a choice: Parsons Street neck-position pickups are wound to mid 7K, and bridge-position models to low 8K.

Golden Age Parsons Street Humbuckers sweet vintage tone was crafted to vintage P.A.F. specifications:
• Nickel silver cover for tone transparency
• Original 1.97" (50.04mm) polepiece spacing
• Plain enameled AWG42 coil wire
• Black paper coil tape
• Wood spacer
• Choice of Alnico 2 or Alnico 5 magnet
• Nickel-silver baseplate
• Single-conductor braided shield output wire

Your choice of original-style magnets:
• Alnico 2 for warm tone with smooth highs and a soft bottom response.
• Alnico 5 produces a clear tone with more pronounced highs and a tighter low end.
(Original P.A.F.s contained Alnico 2, 3 and 5 magnets at various times.)

Neck models: mid 7K ohms
Bridge models: low 8K ohms

Great Pickups

By Mikey from IL from Mount Zion, IL
(Customer's Reviews) Friday, March 23, 2012

I put these pickups in my recent build of a les paul natural knockoff. Nice clean low growl and they get dirty when you dig in and start jamming. I will keep using them. Everything but the wood is from Stew Mac. Great service and great products. I am hooked!

Old Faithful

I have an old Ibanez Les Paul copy pre law suit and wanted to restore it to more classic vibe. after 20 years of DiMarzio pickups I was wanted the traditional look and sound. I was not disappointed. The wiring matches the original and dropped in with no difficulties. When I played it through my amp the sound was excellent both clean and overdriven. Great job on a great product.

Set of Alnico 2 nickel

I put the PUs in my own project PRS style guitar. They sound great when
played clean especially when I put down the tone control the neck pickup
is awesome for jazz soli!!! They sounds verry good when played overdrive too.
With Sky Blue Od. Mad Professor I have a amasing blues sounds and a top lead sounds with my Riot distortion.
The finish is great! Five stars! Thank you Stew Mac!

Alnico 2 Gold cover Neck & Bridge set

By Renato from Brazil
(Customer's Reviews) Saturday, November 12, 2011

I just put the neck and bridge pair (both Alnico 2) in my 1972 SG replica (mahogany neck and body, brazilian rosewood fretboard).

I am amazed by the sound of these pickups, especially because they cost like half the price of an equivalent Gibson. They sound great when played clean or with overdrive, but do keep in mind that, for being a non-wax-potted pickup set, it gets very sensitive to microphonic feedback when used with heavy distortion. The neck pickup is very punchy and tonally well-balanced, great for clean solos and blues. The bridge one is great for hard rock overdrive, with a lot of treble, sounding quite Angus Young-ish to my ears. I loved them both.

The finish is also flawless. They came with matching golden mounting screws, adjustment springs and a protective plastic film on the face of the pickup. When I removed the protectitive film, the cover was beautiful, shiny and polished like a mirror.

Five stars is not enough for these pickups. Great job, StewMac!

Even the wife said WOW

I recently bought and replaced the stock humbuckers in the Epi Les Paul I've had forever with the Alinco 5 & 6 as suggested. What a difference!! My wife didn't know I had them changed out and said WOW is that the same guitar!? It sounds so much better now. These are some great pick ups.

Great pickups!!

By BILL CORMIER from ROCHESTER, NH
(Customer's Reviews) Tuesday, October 25, 2011

I recently purchased a very used Epiphone Les Paul at a garage sale. Needed sprucing up with new nut, etc... and decided that new pickups might help the sound a bit. The playability after some work was very good. I purchased the Golden Age Parson Street humbuckers and the sound is incredible!!

The neck pickup came through damaged so my tech could only install the bridge PU at first. The sound clarity and quality of that one alone was amazing. When the replacement neck PU arrived and was installed the whole range of sound is now superb!! Over my long career of buying and selling just about every great guitar ever made I now have this cheap Epi that, with these pickups, sounds as good or better than any I've owned. Thanks for a great product - and service too!!

Nice Pickups

By DGT from Toronto
(Customer's Reviews) Sunday, October 23, 2011

I received the Parsons Street humbuckers I ordered in record time. I've been using them for a while now and I'm well satisfied with them. The Les Paul those pup's are installed in has had three sets of pup's in the last four years, and none delivered the sound that was desired. I'm pleased with the character of the Parson Street pup's: a recognizably vintage tone. These pup's have opened up this guitar to new possibilities. And the price is remarkable given the performance.

These are really good pickups for the money; used them on this Spalted Maple Les Paul. Beautiful sound.
