Details

Straight-up raw vintage! Closely modeled after an outstanding vintage P.A.F. set from our own collection. That sweet tone was just too good to keep to ourselves!

True vintage sound.
We christened these exceptional humbuckers in tribute to the famous Kalamazoo address where the holy grail of pickups, the legendary P.A.F. (Patent Applied For), was born.

Just like the originals, the slug coil has more windings than the polepiece coil, and both coils are unpotted. Old P.A.F.s weren't made in separate neck and bridge-position models, and their DC resistance varied from 7-9K ohms. We give you a choice: Parsons Street neck-position pickups are wound to mid 7K, and bridge-position models to low 8K.

Golden Age Parsons Street Humbuckers sweet vintage tone was crafted to vintage P.A.F. specifications:
• Nickel silver cover for tone transparency
• Original 1.97" (50.04mm) polepiece spacing
• Plain enameled AWG42 coil wire
• Black paper coil tape
• Wood spacer
• Choice of Alnico 2 or Alnico 5 magnet
• Nickel-silver baseplate
• Single-conductor braided shield output wire

Your choice of original-style magnets:
• Alnico 2 for warm tone with smooth highs and a soft bottom response.
• Alnico 5 produces a clear tone with more pronounced highs and a tighter low end.
(Original P.A.F.s contained Alnico 2, 3 and 5 magnets at various times.)

Neck models: mid 7K ohms
Bridge models: low 8K ohms

Perfect for an EPI les Paul project

By rf from Atl, Ga USA
(Customer's Reviews) Saturday, March 29, 2014

I have a 2000 korean made EPI Les Paul and I just put in a set of parson street Alnico 2 pickups. These are hands down as good as duncan antiquities in my opinion as I have a set of those in another EPI les Paul. I also changed out the pots/caps/wiring to CTS, Emerson PIO caps and switch craft 3 way and output jack all from Stewmac. All this made a decent guitar into a really nice sounding LP. Great pickups. Warm, clean, and will growl when you crank it :)

great pickups!

I replaced the stock pick ups in a 1989 Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor with the golden age parsons street humbuckers in gold finish. They really sound great - had a pair of gibson classic 57s in another similar guitar and these sound as good to me as those did for 1/2 the price. The only thing I would suggest is that Stewmac offer the gold with the restoration covers. The guitar, being 25 yrs old showed some natural aging on the tail piece and original pickups, so I wanted the new pickups to have that same look. I was able to 'relic' the covers on the set I purchased but it involved removing them from the pickups. I also upgraded the wiring and control pots/switch/output jack to vintage style and CTS and switchcraft brand. Guitar sounds amazing now. Customer Svc at Stewmac was great as usual.

Parsons PickUps

I just purchased a set of Alnico 5 neck and Alnico 2 bridge Pick ups. I watched the video that was posted and figured what do I have to lose. I put these pickups in my Epiphone 56 Gold Top.These pickups are just as good if not better then the pickups I had custom made. Also the price is half of what I paid out before. Now I have the sound I have been searching for. I always keep coming back to StewMac for my parts.

Can't Beat Them for the Price

I installed the Alnico 5 neck/Alnico 2 bridge a Samick Royale RL3 semi hollowbody, and the change was astounding. The original Duncan Design pickups were not able to pull off the wide range of tone I need, and these deliver. I get clean smooth jazz to heavily overdriven, singing lead tone with ease--at about half the price of 57 Classics. Great product that I will use again on my next project.

P.A.F. Emulator

After decades of reading about what the original P.A.F. humbuckers where compiled of: DC resistance, staggered wound coils, enameled AWG42 wiring, nickel silver baseplate, etc. - These pickups have all the true ingredients for a P.A.F. copy. I bought the AlNiCo II for a Strat H/S/S bridge application. I removed the cover for to match the other single coil pickups. I have to say these pickups sound like what I perceive a P.A.F. should sound like. Single crispness that sings when overdriven. Pickups aren't rocket science. They got it right. So, why pay more?

A5 Bridge has a great vibe.

Installed this in an Ibanez JTK4 just for grins and hoping for a basic but brighter tone. Wow, what a fine sounding pickup this is especially for the price. I will do it again the next time I am in the market for a vintage vibe tone.

Don't spend more anywhere else!

I purchased the Alnico 5 in the neck, Alnico 2 in the bridge combo for my Les Paul build. I had been contemplating buying one of the several sets from some of the name brand pickup manufacturers out there (Seymour Duncan, Lindy Fralin) but figured I'd give these a try for the price. Don't bother spending $50 or $200 more for any set of humbuckers out there - you don't need them. These pickups are simply outstanding. Once the pickup height was adjusted correctly, I was able to coax the cleanest tones that I have ever heard out of my guitars. The neck pickup is warm and great for B.B. King blues or playing jazz. Turn up the tone on the bridge pickup to hear a little Waylon Jennings. But these really shine when you add a little distortion. These give you the clean, punchy crunch of AC/DC and Zeppelin and if you add a little overdrive you can bring out Zakk Wylde harmonics. These pickups give you great tonal range without sounding weak when run through clean channels or muddy with distortion.

Truly Impressed

I have a pretty nice collection of higher end guitars, but I like to show my lower end guitars some love too (modding and whatnot...it's fun). So, I threw a set of these in an old Les Paul Studio, and I am "extremely" impressed with these pickups. They are bold and have great bite. They are responsive and articulate. They handle gain fantastically, as they don't loosen up at higher settings and maintain punch and definition. These are really a fantastic product, and the price point is icing on the cake. Highly recommended.

Not bad *updated*

When I originally reviewed this pickup I had said that the High's were missing. I was totally mistaken. The problem was my 3 way switch. I was getting bleeding from my neck pickup which was screwing up my tone big time. I finally took the switch apart and remedied the problem. All I can say is Wow! This A2 bridge pickup with the A5 neck combo is well worth the money. The overwound A5 original golden age bridge and A5 neck were very nice but the PS have a lot more character to them. And to think I was going to send them back. I'm sure glad I didn't. 5 stars!
