Authentic specs, great price! Vintage specifications make these Golden Age pickups a great way to take your Jazz Bass® back to its roots.

They're a solid choice for building a custom 4-string bass with distinctive classic midrange.

The set of two pickups enables a versatile tone pallette, with two Alnico 5 polepieces per string providing the signature enhanced clarity. Authentic sound at a great price!

Set of two pickups with black cover, compressible foam pad for height adjustment, mounting screws, and push-back cloth-insulated lead wires are included with each pickup.

Bridge Pickup:
Dimensions (minus mounting tabs): 3-11/16" x 11/16" x 3/4" tall (93.66mm x 17.46mm x 19.05mm). Mounting screw spacing 1-9/16" x 15/16" (39.69mm x 23.81mm).
Polepieces: Alnico 5, with 2-5/16" (58.74mm) string spread.
Coil wire: AWG42, wound to 8.5K ohms and wax potted for feedback suppression.
Flatwork: Bottom thickness .094" (2.39mm), top .062" (1.57mm).

Neck Pickup:
Dimensions: 3-9/16" x 11/16" x 3/4" tall (90.49mm x 17.46mm x 19.05mm). Mounting screw spacing 1-1/2" x 15/16" (39.10mm x 23.81mm).
Polepieces: Alnico 5, with 2-3/16" (55.56mm) string spread.
Coil wire: AWG42, wound to 8.0K ohms and wax potted for feedback suppression.
Flatwork: Bottom thickness .094" (2.39mm), top .062" (1.57mm).

The reverse-wound, reverse-polarity coils are hum-cancelling when both pickups are at full volume (bridge pickup north polarity; neck pickup south polarity).

Note: Jazz Bass pickup dimensions have varied slightly over the years. Please measure your pickup cavities before replacing older pickups.

Wonderful Tone

I bought these to replace the very cheap stock pups in my '91 MIM Jazz bass. Because of the odd setup on the stock bass (two neck pickups, same polarity, and even they are slightly smaller than the standard neck pups) I had to do a bit of routing to slightly widen the bridge cavity. But other than that, these dropped right in. The sound is really quite nice. Very warm and clear. A huge step up from the stock MIM pickups.

Jazzing up an old bass

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I have been looking at an older jazz bass sitting in my studio for a couple of years and decided to get it up and running again. When it came time to do the pickups I remembered that a buddy had used Golden Age in a Strat and was happy with them, so I gave Stewmac an order to try them out .These pups are incredibly clear and have midrange to spare!! the neck unit has as much punch as any I have used, and I would highly recommend them to any discriminating player. My order was shipped right away and I am a pleased customer. Now I am looking at a couple of other Fenders that could use some upgrades and cosmetic attention.

Even better than Duncan Designed

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I Installed these on a new Squier VM Jazz, risking it to see if these pups would sound better than the stock Duncan Designeds. MUCH better sound. I think the difference is that the DD's are dipped in wax, and the Golden Age's aren't, so there's a little more clarity. Consequently, if your bass isn't shielded from EMI, you may hear more of the 60 cycle hum. . .

Good choice!

These pickups worked just as what I expected. I put them on a cheap SX jazz bass and now it sounds nearly like the original.

Just finished building a jazz bass kit, the pups that came with it sounded like a cat wailing under wet concrete.. got on line to Stewmac and found these pups. AWESOME! The tonal range and warmth is spot on for playing blues. Well done Stewmac, another quality item!

Dead on sixties J-bass tone, if you want to nail that R&B sound that never goes out of style or gets old!
