A little too many problems

By Marcio Costa from Brasil

I purchased several pickup kits, everything great, except for some missing eyelets, and for ONE pole piece. One of my jazz bass pickups came with only 7 pole pieces. "Nothing is perfect, in the next order I'll get a replacement". So I did. I ordered ONE pole piece, the tallest stewmac carries. It is still shorter than the others, and is not chamfered. The pole pieces, when purchased outside a kit, may not match the others in size or finish. And the price, which is a bit to the steep side.

I do not profess to be a pickup maker...

But I do like to build pickups for my custom builds. It's not difficult to wind a really decent sounding pickup, I'm no Lindy Fralin or Jason Lollar, but I'm proud of my pickups none the less. These magnets fit the Stew-Mac flatwork perfectly, saturate easily and I like the fact that the are not pre-beveled and the profile is very smooth. I've rewound vintage Fender pickups and have ran into issues with the old rough cast profiles.
