CTS Push-pull Pots, DPDT

About This Item

Add a switch without adding a hole. Sized to fit more guitars.
On these top quality CTS control pots, the switch contacts are on the side, not the back. This makes them shorter, so they'll fit most guitars without routing—only 1" cavity depth is needed.

The double-pole double-throw switch adds lots of wiring options. Pull the knob to coil-cut a humbucker, switch a pickup in/out, or control anything: the switch is electrically separate from the control pot.

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS worked with StewMac to create these unique control pots. In addition to their space-saving size, they feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered elsewhere.

Their precision audio taper gives smoother, more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. The volume swells evenly from 0 to 10, with no abrupt changes.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. The long shaft #0229 fits Les Paul® and other carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

Push Pull Review

Well, i never worked with older variations, but i think they would be easier to solder. This circuit board arrangement is very hard to work with if your using all the slots. Just my opinion and work preference. Also plastic back makes grounding a task. The pot itself works fine once the job is done, but next time i'll search for the old lug style.

Great idea, not so great execution

Bought this for a customers Les Paul we were doing a phase switch on. I was in love with the design and being able to have a full size push pull pot. But man. Those little holes you have to solder the wire in are... very little. Getting the iron and the wire and solder in that small of of a space proved very difficult. Made the job substantially more time consuming than normal. I just wish it was easier to solder. That would be fantastic.

Other than being difficult to install it worked and sounded great!

These work great, well made and smooth. Slightly confusing connections but just read the diagram. Nicest push/ pull pots I've ever used on a project, very easy soldering too!

The shaft pulled right out. It still works but not worth the money.

Compared to regular push pull pots

Bought to fit better into my sgj.... still had to router out some wood to deepen the pocket. They aren't much shorter than regular push pulls. Other than that they seem to work awesome, they feel very solid.
