CTS Control Pots

About This Item

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS pots from StewMac have even more to like: closer tolerances and longer life!

We've specified these CTS pots to feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered by most other suppliers.

CTS precision audio taper gives you smoother and more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. Crank your guitar up to 10 and the volume swells all the way—no abrupt flattening to choke your playing style.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. A long-shaft 500K-ohm version fits Les Paul style carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

They work great! I like the fact that they are sooth turning but they have resistance. Some pots I feel like they move while your playing them. These also let it the full potential of the pickups all the lows mids and highs. Great pot

I bought four of these to change the 2 300k volume pots in my Les Paul, so I went a head and changed the tone pots also. I was told these are top quality replacements. Well not based on my limited experience. One of the pots came completely apart when I pushed the knob back on. All of the pots seem to have no taper at all. On and off. My next purchase of potentiometers will be Bornes pots.

CTS Control Pots

The CTS control pots helped unleash the tone and control the power of my previously installed and previously muddy sounding Rail Hammer pickups. Now coupled with my Roland Blues Cube Artist and the blues module I need little in the way of effects to get great sound.

Saga ST-10 Rebuild

By

I put these in a ST-10 Saga I built when I was 17, and I am 53 now. Huge difference. When I get up the energy I will replace the pots in my red Epiphone DOT with these. I highly recommended them.

Well made pots, but...

I'm sure I'll end up using these on a few other of my guitars, but just so you know, the poles are wider than the holes on Ibanez guitars. I wasn't about to drill out the holes bigger so I ended up salvaging some other ones I had in my parts bin.

They look to be well made, so I'll end up using them on a Gibson Explorer I'm refurbishing.
