CTS Control Pots

About This Item

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS pots from StewMac have even more to like: closer tolerances and longer life!

We've specified these CTS pots to feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered by most other suppliers.

CTS precision audio taper gives you smoother and more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. Crank your guitar up to 10 and the volume swells all the way—no abrupt flattening to choke your playing style.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. A long-shaft 500K-ohm version fits Les Paul style carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

Nice feel old style pot......just beware if retro fitting to a imported bass or guitar...you have to make the holes bigger but here is one I didn't see coming......there wasn't enough room for the pot BODY.....check out the pic....had to grind out a lil wood from the cavity.....

I always use CTS pots for all my rebuilds. Just make shure you get the ones from Stew Mac with brass shafts. I ordered a CTS pot from a different company once and was surprised it did not have a brass shaft. Do yourself a favor, pay a couple extra bucks and get the good stuff.

CTS 500k regular length pots

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I bought these as a replacement for my '99 Ibanez RG7420's original pots. They required me to bore out the original holes slightly, nothing anyone with some minor repair experience couldnt handle. The feel is a much heavier turn resistance than the original pots, which I prefer. Great product! I recommend these to anyone who has old, scratchy, or problematic pots!

Meh what the heck happened to the tolerance on these pots!

I've been buying these 500K split shaft CTS pots from Stewmac for awhile. However this last batch of 12 really is crappy only one pot measured at 500K...the rest were well below at 465-480. Prob won't be buying pots here again. So out of 12 pots only one was 501.

Response from StewMac

Thank you for your feedback. These pots appear to be within the +-10% tolerence at the values you have listed. We stand behind our return policy -- if you are not satisfied you may return it for a refund or exchange. Please call us at 1-800-848-2273.
