CTS Control Pots

About This Item

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS pots from StewMac have even more to like: closer tolerances and longer life!

We've specified these CTS pots to feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered by most other suppliers.

CTS precision audio taper gives you smoother and more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. Crank your guitar up to 10 and the volume swells all the way—no abrupt flattening to choke your playing style.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. A long-shaft 500K-ohm version fits Les Paul style carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

Well made pots, but...

By

Verified Buyer

I'm sure I'll end up using these on a few other of my guitars, but just so you know, the poles are wider than the holes on Ibanez guitars. I wasn't about to drill out the holes bigger so I ended up salvaging some other ones I had in my parts bin.

They look to be well made, so I'll end up using them on a Gibson Explorer I'm refurbishing.

Replacement Volume Pots

Excellent product. Great support. Staff helped me settle on the standard CTS over the EMERSON based on my particular demands. The pots are very well made, solid, smooth and consistent. Delivered to Australia for far less than I can buy them here. Absolutely no regrets. I happily recommend this product and the service from Stewmac is second to none.

They work as expected.

I'm not a very nerdy guy regarding this things, but they work. I saw some videos on youtube about a guy that bought them but they were all broke. In my case this didn't happen, so ok.

My volume controls

I had ordered a double neck guitar kit on line. The pots in the kit were substandard to say the least. I sent StewMac an email telling them of my problem. They wrote back and told me what I needed to fix it. I ordered the 4 pots and orange drops they told me I needed. When I got the guitar put back together one of the pots was bad. I sent them another email telling them my problem and they sent me out a new replacement. I got the guitar back together and it worked PERFECTLY!!!!!
The place for the right information the right product with super low prices and super customer service. You can't go wrong with StewMac. Great place to do business to play!

The only ones to buy.

Why think about it? On stage, and the you're hit with the possibility of your sound cutting out! Or worse, your sound actually cutting out. For the difference of $3, it just isn't worth it. When one of life's luxuries is so affordable, grab it. I've never heard - or experienced - a CTS pot going bad. Let's see, 3 pots x 45 years on my Strat; 4 pots x 38 years on my 335. You do the math.

Great replacements for my formerly shitty Fender Squire

By

Verified Buyer

I've had my fender squire since the mid 90's when my parents first got it for me. the volume was always scratchy and distorted but i sucked so it didn't matter. come to today and time and practive have again paid off but my guitar was shit. I swapped out the pickups for texas specials and all the pots with these CTS control pots. everything was a drop in replacement for what was there before and it took less than an hour to solder everything back together. No i have an amazing sounding guitar. thanks so much to StewMac for gettting these to me in less than a week. Awesome service and information available here.

Ever since I started rebuilding guitars the first thing was CTS pots. I love the quality they bring to a project and for the money, they are well worth it. They are solid and and the difference in tone quality jumps out at you right away. Confirmed CTS pots for me.

Great part and even better tech service

By

I bought CTS pots, knobs, CRL control switch, & wiring kit for my St. Blues Blindsider. I bought the guitar from eBay and it was pretty good only too much treble. Aaron my tech support guy at Stewmac recommended changing the 500k pots someone had put in with 250k pots. The guitar is basically at Strat with 3 single coil pups 1 volume, 1 tone control & a 5 way switch. Aaron also gave me a wiring diagram but mainly the encouragement that I could do the job. It turnd out great and I could not be more pleased with Aaron and Stewmac!!! I'm a customer for life. Please excuse my photography and I didn't even clean the guitar up but it gives an idea of what it is.
