250K vs. 500K
Generally, 500K-ohm pots are used with humbuckers and 250Ks are used with single-coil pickups. You can use any value you like, but a 250K will give a slightly warmer tone than a 500K pot. The 250K pot bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Blend pot on a Jazz bass

By Rob Drage from Blue Mountains, Australia
(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, August 19, 2010

I replaced the Volume, Volume, Tone configuration on a Fender Fretless Jazz bass with a Blend, Volume and Tone controls. The instrument now offers a constant volume to the amp/ Front of House systems when panning between pick-ups and offers a variety of options in bridge/neck pick-up blends. Changing the volume level for solos is much easier. The Fender ôsoundö was not impacted with the change.

Guitars can have blend pots as well.

I use blend pots for pickup selection in my guitars. I like doing this because you get a lot of options as compared to the normal 3 position toggle switch. The blend pot is good quality.

Great option for a passive Jazz Bass...

The right choice to wire a passive Jazz Bass with the blend option (Volume, Blend, Tone).

I love it!
