Golden Age Treble Bleed Circuit

About This Item

An easy mod for your volume control to get more uniform guitar tone from 1 to 10.

Hand-soldered here in our shop: a 150K-ohm 1/4-watt resistor (1% tolerance) in parallel with a .001uF capacitor. Wire this simple mod between the input and output lugs of your guitar volume control pot, to smooth out treble bleed. Get more uniform tone from 1 to 10, and a more rounded sound at low volume. Available with ceramic or Orange Drop® capacitor.

Hear the difference in TradeSecrets Issue 182.

Due to the small size of the resistor, we recommend using Alligator Clip Heat Sinks when soldering this circuit in place.

For modding original caps, see our #7373 150K-ohm 1/4-watt Resistor.

Treble Bleed is great!

Started running these in my Strat and have since added them to my PRS (Zach Myers doesn't come with treble bleed like most PRS). Really love that the volume actually works the volume and the tone controls, work the tone. Makes it much simpler to work them independently rather than having them interdependent.

Added to my tele when I changed out all the guts. Love not losing treble when rolling off the volume. Priceless

Perfect!

My 2001 PRS Custom 24 already had their version of a treble bleed but it lacked a resistor, so as the volume was turned down the highs got brighter and brighter making it necessary to roll off highs on the tone pot. The StewMac kit totally solved this. The fidelity does not change as you turn town the volume. Excellent!

Have been holding out to purchse this bleed circuit. I'm really glad I did, this is the secret sauce I've been looking for.
I'm going to be buying more for my other guitars.
Thanks,
Victor

Wow! This really works.

After seeing the video about the Golden Age circuit I thought what a great idea IF it indeed works. So I took the plunge and spent the short $ it costs for this add on. It was very easy to solder in place and I was amazed at how well the tone is maintained as I lower my guitar volume control.

These should be in every guitar

I can't believe these are not in every american guitar made. The difference in volume control WITHOUT loss of tone is amazing. I have begun to put these into all future builds and every guitar I have put them into is better for it.

Too big

The treble tone bleed did wonderfully the job that it was supposed to do as far as tone on the guitar. It would have been great had it been like the picture, however, they were considerably larger and these have to go into rather confined space at times. I'm sorry I didn't buy the parts separately and make my own.

Economical tone upgrade.

I added this circuit to my stratocaster with 3 single pickups. The tone is brighter and has more bite without having to keep the volume at 10 all the time.
