Golden Age Treble Bleed Circuit

About This Item

An easy mod for your volume control to get more uniform guitar tone from 1 to 10.

Hand-soldered here in our shop: a 150K-ohm 1/4-watt resistor (1% tolerance) in parallel with a .001uF capacitor. Wire this simple mod between the input and output lugs of your guitar volume control pot, to smooth out treble bleed. Get more uniform tone from 1 to 10, and a more rounded sound at low volume. Available with ceramic or Orange Drop® capacitor.

Hear the difference in TradeSecrets Issue 182.

Due to the small size of the resistor, we recommend using Alligator Clip Heat Sinks when soldering this circuit in place.

For modding original caps, see our 150K-ohm 1/4-watt Resistor.

Fantastic

`I first put one in my 68 tele and it was a vast improvement, the tone always got dark when rolling off the volume, no more! since i have put them in 3 of my strats, a 83 Les Paul and historic SG which made a huge difference with humbuckers. I would put them in my old 335 if it wasn't so difficult. It only takes a minute to do so try it, you wont be disappointed.

I've used this circuit before in an old Tele with great results and am very happy with it in both, my Strat and my Heritage DC Millennium Pro!

Treble Bleed Mod Outstanding

By

The mod seemed to not only reduce the treble loss from backing down the volume pot but added a crispness to the sound that is indescribable, in a good way. Very pleased with these and plan on buying some more for guitars not already equipped with them.

bought it. installed it in 5 minutes (thats including soldering iron heat up time) absolutely changed everything about my ax on lower volumes. my pedals are even more responsive because the clarity cuts when on lower volumes. KILLER MOD! A must have IMO!!!

New parts, old tone.

I ended up pulling this out of my Pacifica. I quit using the tone control until I replaced it with a Stellartone.

Works great!

I have always been bummed when I turned down my volume on my Strat and that sparkle just went away. Well with this simple mod it has made a huge difference on the highs that are still there at a low volume. I also did the mod for the tone knob for the bridge pickup so I have even more tones now!

Easy install

I'm not sure how much treble it bleeds off but it certainly makes the volume control smoother and more effective. Actually it seems to bleed off all frequencies but just crank the amp up and you get the desired result. I'm pleased with the product even though treble bleed may be a bit of a misnomer. I possibly should have gotten the larger capacitor but I didn't have room. No complaints. I have a St. Blues hybred tele / strat 3 pickups with tele controls. One volume one tone and it is hot on the treble side. I was trying to tame that as much as possible with as little work as possible so I can't blame the product. It works as stated although I somewhat missinderstood its purpose. I'm pleased and would do it again.

Haven't installed as of yet, bought it as an add on to have on hand.. However these simple circuits are great if you guitars dulling out with the volume down.
