Our most popular capacitors; they get the job done at a great price.
Pack of 10.

Capacitors are energy-storage devices that filter the high frequencies. A cap lets the tone control roll off the treble response, progressively warming the tone. The higher the value, the more bass output from the tone control at its "zero" setting.

A cap wired to a potentiometer creates a standard tone control, as explained in this Article: How a tone control works.

Value Code Common use
180pF 181 PRS Treble bleed
.001uF 102Z Common Treble bleed
.022uF 223 Humbucker tone
.047uF 473 Single-coil guitars, many basses
.100uF 104 Basses and certain eras of vintage Fender guitars

I needed to relearn how to play my guitar because I thought it had increased in the quality of tone and articulation! I was shocked and impressed with mod improvements to a guitar. I'm looking for more mods!

Great

Worked really well for mine.

they do the job as well as more expensive caps

Remember, the function of this tone control cap is to shunt high(er) frequencies to ground. Signal going to the amp does not pass through it, only signal you don't want. Ceramic is as good as metalized polyester in this application, so why not save money and use ceramic?

Good Enough

They seem to do the job. If you arent into looks and just need to get the work done quickly and cheaply, these are for you.

Good replacements

These are good for replacing old ceramic caps, but when building from now on, i'll always use drop caps.

Great Trade Secret.

I always read or listen to the Trade Secrets, but a recent one on the tone enhancing mod was super! I bought these Caps with the intention of trying out the tip. I had to source the resistors locally, no biggie. The tone enhancer works like magic, it will be a great "profit enhancer" on electric guitar set-up jobs that are common in my shop.

Cheap and easy to work with

By Lance Link from Japan

These seem to do the job; I can't personally hear any difference between them and the bigger, pricier variations to be honest. As a bonus, these are cheap and smaller and the wire is much thinner than on something like an orange drop, making them much easier to bend and work with. If there was a noticeable tone difference, I'd buy the more expensive, bigger stuff; but I just don't hear it.
