black pickguard

Top-shelf product that fit exact and saved time and work. The D35 didn't have a pickguard on it but an ate-up place where one used to be. After some reinforcement of the nearly 50 year old spruce, I laid down a thin layer of super glue. After curing, I stuck tape on the lower side of the guard, set it in place, then lifted it up to peel the backing and drop 'er in place. It was an exact fit and went right over the existing place, thanks to the tape hinge.

Nightmare.

By

These are a nightmare to put on because you can see the fingerprints from both sides. The dust and dirt show and it is almost impossible to trim them without making a mess since everything shows from trying to place it on the guitar. Why not sell them without the adhesive and let the installer apply that when he has it ready after trimming. Or do like Taylor guitars does and let static adhere them so you can remove and reuse.

the tortoise version is basically a pepperoni pizza sticker

The tortoise one looks cheap and ugly. It is basically a printed sticker. I can't imagine why anyone would put this on a serious guitar.

I have used these guards on several guitars I have worked on for friends and for myself. They are easy to trim if you need to and look very nice once applied.

Martin Style Pick guard for a 70's D-28

By

Verified Buyer

This pick guard was exactly what i needed to repair a late 70's Martin D-28 Acoustic guitar that had a black pick guard that was curling up and peeling off from the bare wood. We remove the old one and sealed the bare wood with some super glue and then sanded that down a little. Sanded around the edges where the old pick guard was too.We then positioned the new pick guard in place and if fit like a charm. Clamped it down over night with a flat piece of wood and then scuffed the new guard a little to make it look good and done....I spoke with Stew Mac before the purchase and they said it would fit and it did...
thx,
Jerry
