Carbon Fiber Neck Rods

About This Item

Stronger than an equivalent volume of steel, carbon fiber rods can supplement an adjustable truss rod to help prevent neck twisting.

Short sections can be installed to reinforce the base of a peghead. Formed with heat and pressure in an epoxy base, carbon fiber adds little weight, but adds significant stiffness.

Nice stuff!

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I use a .200" CF rod in all my uke necks, and two "outrigger" 1/8" rods to my guitar necks.
These add a degree of "known" stiffness to a neck as wood stiffness, even in the same tree, can be all over the place.
You can build great instruments without these, but why not just go ahead and build better ones!

Pretty amazing material!

Light weight, very hard material. Not much bend even when turned flat-wise. I channeled it up-right firmly into a banjo neck for a lighter weight and very stable neck assembly.

Perfect fit

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I use these for my neck stiffeners and they fit the 1/8" slot perfectly. I was using carbon fiber neck rods from another supplier but I usually had to sand the rods down to get them to fit correctly. These from Stewart Mcdonald fit just right.

I use them a lot. They keep working for me.

stiff rod...

By
(Customer's Reviews)

Used these a lot over the years, just built myself a 5 string bass and installed 4 of these in the neck...solid as a rock and a great consistent tone over the entire neck. I think a two way truss rod is crucial when using these rods as it can stiffen a neck so much...you can't get the relief you want from string pull alone.

Carbon fiber rods

By
(Customer's Reviews)

This is the first time I've used these Carbon fiber rods. They work well, and fit nicely, and allow me to make a very thin but very strong/stiff neck. In the photo you can see them installed along with a two way adjustable truss rod, in my sonÆs guitar which he orders very strong so that he could string it with thick strings for playing hard rock.

Going for lightweight? Go carbon

By

I switched to cedar for the necks of my electric guitars. The combination of a spoke nut hot rod and carbon reinforcement is very lightweight, strong and extremely stable.

Good as any carbon fiber on the market, but price is high

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I put a pair of carbon fiber rods, and a dual action Hot Rod, in all my necks. Stew Mac's carbon fiber is as good as any I've used. I'd give a five star rating, if the price were more reasonable.
