Best solution

I had my Telecaster pickguard autographed by Bill Kirchen recently. I took the pickguard off the Tele & brought it when I saw him play. The signature was done on a white 3 layer pickguard with a Sharpie. After researching all methods of preservation, using a sheet of this clear material was the best. I used a dry method of application and it went on easily. I trimmed with an X-acto after it was on and smoothed out any small air pockets. ItÆs perfect. The sheet of material is rigid and does a great job going on without misbehaving like it was Saran wrap. The end result is smooth and undetectable.

I have had this clear pick guard material on my hand-made Michael Dunn guitar for about 8 years, and recently bought some to take to a luthier in Turkey for use on ouds/lavtas. It really is transparent, both visually and acoustically. It is almost invisible and does not block or mute the sound from the interment. (I also discovered that Stewmac ships to Turkey...but my order was a gift, and the luthier can buy further supplies by mail order). R J Stewart
