Stewart-MacDonald is your source for quality bone!
Bone is traditionally favored for quality instruments. Our unbleached bone is harder than bleached white bone, and has a mottled cream vintage look. Its hardness and density contributes to good tone, it polishes well, and it allows more precise filing.

Blank saddles have oversize length and height, for custom shaping in your shop. They're ready for trimming, filing, sanding and slotting.

Shaped saddles will save you a LOT of work—a head start for the novice, and a timesaver for the busy shop. The sizes have been carefully researched, and accurately radiused, so that minor trimming, slotting, and sanding are usually all you'll need to do.

Good news: our super-hard unbleached bone saddles are available with B-string compensation too, so you'll save even more time!

I like this stuff- not sure if its any harder or softer then unbleached- close enough to not think about it.

while I think the product is overpriced, it is exactly as advertised.

unbleached bone user

After messing up a few nuts and saddles, I think I've figured out a decent way to put them on my Takamine and Taylor acoustics. A pro would never do it my way because my only tools are a complete set of nut files, my brother's circular sander (Don't let go of the off switch!) and some cheap general-purpose files. It took four days but my guitars sound brighter and louder with no buzz compared to the synthetic and bleached nuts and saddles they came with. But if you have a couple hundred bucks to spend on the complete tools, I recommend it.

Pretty much met all of my expectations, needed little fiddling to make it fit.

Great bone saddle with the look of vintage bone

I used this for a rehab of a 1968 Yamaha FG-189 Red Label Nippon Gakki guitar and it made a HUGE difference. Along with Stewmac's unbleached pre-slotted bone nut, replacing the original plastic Yamaha components made a very noticeable difference in the tone, volume ans sustain. My customer is very happy. As always, THANKS, STEW MAC! I've been buying from you since the late 70's and you are always my go-to source for stringed instrument parts and materials.

Stewmac should make it clearer that this does not just slot in. It needs finishing..
