Stewart-MacDonald is your source for quality bone!
Bone is traditionally favored for quality instruments. Our unbleached bone is harder than bleached white bone, and has a mottled cream vintage look. Its hardness and density contributes to good tone, it polishes well, and it allows more precise filing.

Blank saddles have oversize length and height, for custom shaping in your shop. They're ready for trimming, filing, sanding and slotting.

Shaped saddles will save you a LOT of work—a head start for the novice, and a timesaver for the busy shop. The sizes have been carefully researched, and accurately radiused, so that minor trimming, slotting, and sanding are usually all you'll need to do.

Good news: our super-hard unbleached bone saddles are available with B-string compensation too, so you'll save even more time!

Nice product, great for matching aged/creme bindings

Everything it was supposed to be, came promptly by mail, very good quality and color. Matches aged or creme colored bindings beautifully. I highly recommend it.

Good Material For Saddles

I love the look of the unbleached bone. I wonder why anyone would want the softer bleached ones.

Best saddle ever

I replaced the (I'm sorry to say Corian) saddle that I installed when I added a under saddle pickup to my Guild D-35. It was all I had laying around my shop so I thought I'd try it. After installing the new bone saddle I could not believe the difference in tone and sound. I sat and played for about two hours after I was done it sounded so sweet. I thought it would be better but I didn't think it would be so dramatic.

Unbleached bone saddles

By

I cannot comment on the sound yet but these were helpful in restoring a vintage Martin in that they are wide enough for a bridge that is slotted all the way through where the saddle sits. They also start out more true and with more even dimensions than most of the import saddles that have flooded the market

I like this stuff- not sure if its any harder or softer then unbleached- close enough to not think about it.

while I think the product is overpriced, it is exactly as advertised.

unbleached bone user

After messing up a few nuts and saddles, I think I've figured out a decent way to put them on my Takamine and Taylor acoustics. A pro would never do it my way because my only tools are a complete set of nut files, my brother's circular sander (Don't let go of the off switch!) and some cheap general-purpose files. It took four days but my guitars sound brighter and louder with no buzz compared to the synthetic and bleached nuts and saddles they came with. But if you have a couple hundred bucks to spend on the complete tools, I recommend it.

Pretty much met all of my expectations, needed little fiddling to make it fit.
