Self-lubricating nuts from Graph Tech are ideal for string bending and tremolo work. Now in more sizes!

Extra slippery: TUSQ XL® is impregnated with Teflon® (500% more slippery than graphite). During tremolo bends, the strings slide in the slots, returning to accurate pitch.

Dense and resonant: Pressure-formed TUSQ transfers string energy more efficiently, without dead spots found in natural materials. Guitars come alive with enhanced harmonics, volume and sustain.

Pre-shaped: Slotted or unslotted, they require only minor trimming.

Ivory color now available
Customers have asked for a white version of their favorite Black TUSQ XL. That turned out to be easier said than done, and took years to perfect, but now it's here! It looks like ivory, but won't chip or flake.

I only use Tusq nuts for my guitars and always recommend to my clients for their guitars as well.

Easy to Fit

By
(Customer's Reviews)

Well made -- easy to fit. Required only a little filing to the sides (to reduce width), and the bottom (to reduce height) needed to drop into my Ibanez Strat clone. No buzz and stays in tune with trem use now. -Thanks!

'NOT' for Epiphone Les Paul - if you're wondering.

By

Very nice nuts, well shaped and precise. If you are looking to use these for an Epiphone Les Paul standard or Traditional, they are 1/16" too thin. If you choose to still use them keep in mind that the area planed level for the nut to sit in and cover up, will show. And your truss rod cover will not sit flush against the nut as intended - there will be a gap. Nothing wrong with the nut itself, it's great!

Nice, quality part

By
(Customer's Reviews)

My first experience with a TUSQ nut and it's a nice part. However, there are no nuts available from Stew-Mac that fit my guitar (Yamaha FG700S). This one required quite a bit of handwork (too tall, too thick, too long) which I knew was the case when I ordered it. It was the closest thing available. I made it fit and am satisfied with the result. The only reason it didn't get a 5 star rating is the amount of handwork required.

The thing I like the most about it is the material. It doesn't cut as easily as the OEM plastic part making removing too much material more difficult.

Installed by a Novice

By

Using this pre-formed, slotted nut for a Gibson made a timely job quick and easy. It was just a little thicker than the old nut on the Takamine G330 Student Guitar but 3 minutes on 80 grit using my nut and saddle sander on the face fixed that beautifully. A little filing with an extra fine file to smooth it up and the nut was ready to install. From start to finish including cleanup of slot, gluing, strings, and tuning was just under an hour.

Never having done this before, I relied on the expertise of SM Customer Service and Dan Erlewine’s blog on “Making a Nut, Step-by-Step” which can be found on their site under How To – Online Resources – Nuts + Saddles.

The saddle fits perfect and, not to brag, I honestly cannot tell it was not factory installed. The action is the same as before and the sound is a little less tinny which is a plus for me. All-in-all I am very pleased with this TUSQ XL Nut and with SW’s help in locating a suitable replacement Nut and aiding in educating me on how to do the job.

Gibson nut replacement

By
(Customer's Reviews)

Unfortunately I tried to adjust the nut height by filing the slots and went a tad too much rendering my LP unplayable. Without much thought, I came right to StuMac to get a new nut. This nut almost required no further adjustment, except for a minimal shaving of the bottom to achieve the factory settings.

TUSQ XL for Gibson LP Studio

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I have an Alpine White Les Paul Studio that would not stay in tune and never felt quite right. I had tried a nut lubricant and it helped with the tuning stability but didn't really fix the problem. This fixed the problem! That guitar stays in tune and I was able to finally get a proper set up which makes it play like I had always imagined it would. This was my first time replacing a nut and now that I have done it I will never hesitate doing it again with other guitars. Excellent product!

Easy Install and Perfect Cut Nuts!

By
(Customer's Reviews)

Installed these on my Import Strat ESP LTD ST guitar. Slight sanding is needed. Very easy to install if you follow the instruction. Instant tuning improvement is noticed. No more need to lubricate the nut. Tusq XL rocks! Would like to see stewmac stock Tusq XL for PRS SE model guitars too.
