Bone Nut

By
(Customer's Reviews)

This is a great product, but I'm gonna take it of my guitar because I put a bone nut, saddle, and bridge pins on the thing all at the same time. It sounds like a resonator lol. That would be great for a slide style of playing, but it's a little too much metallic sound for me...

Worked very well

I used this on a rebuild of a 1988 Strat. It was the right look for this guitar and fit with only minor shaping. String spacing very good.

Perfect fit great service

My initial purchase fit perfectly with minimal sanding. A minor crack interfered with tuning and Stewmac replaced it immediately with no questions.

It's great to deal with a company that is so service focused. Their reputation is well deserved.

Great for tone, easy to work with

I just recently change the cheap plastic nuts and saddles on 2 guitars with these unbleached bone nuts and saddles. What an improvement in the tone! Having these nuts pre-slotted is a big time saver and the bone is very easy to work with when fitting the piece to the instrument. I am very pleased with this product.

Bone nut a winner

I ordered this bone nut to replace a nut on a martin style guitar I had built. Rank amateur luthier I messed up the first one for lack of correct tools and experience. I popped this one in and it was perfect. Thanks.

Masterful!

By

First time buying a bone nut. The first one I received happened to be the wrong dimensions. No biggy I thought! But still, I sent StewMac an email thinking they ought to know and not really thinking it's worth the effort ordering a replacement. Before I know it, I received an email from StewMac informing me they had indeed sent me a replacement nut that was specifically chosen to match the dimensions of my guitar's nut. Wow! Blown away! It's also worth mentioning that I don't live in the U.S., and still they assumed shipping charges! Hats off for excellent customer service! As for the nut itself, the dimensions are a little bigger on the height and thickness than the original, leaving room for installer precise fitting. My only minor gripe is with the string slots that seem to be way too large and deep when compared to the original Fender nut and by putting corresponding strings in the slots and checking for fit (I use .011" set). The string spacing is quite accurate except for the b and high e strings where spacing seems to be a narrower when compared to original Fender. Having fatter fingers, of course I lean more towards the wider spacing. The question now is, will I be able to remedy these minor discrepancies with my first-timer skills and limited tools?! Excellent customer service, and lovely material and workmanship!

Works perfect for a gibson but not for an epiphone but that was probably to be expected.

Great Product, but....

By
(Customer's Reviews)

...the quality and cut of the product was fine, except that the string spacing was too wide to fit my Yamaha CPX1000. The nut width was right, but the string spacing was too much.
