Details

Self-lubricating nuts from Graph Tech are ideal for string bending and tremolo work. Now in more sizes!

Extra slippery: TUSQ XL® is impregnated with Teflon® (500% more slippery than graphite). During tremolo bends, the strings slide in the slots, returning to accurate pitch.

Dense and resonant: Pressure-formed TUSQ transfers string energy more efficiently, without dead spots found in natural materials. Guitars come alive with enhanced harmonics, volume and sustain.

Pre-shaped: Slotted or unslotted, they require only minor trimming.

could not use

By Jason G. from Tomball, Tx.
(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, March 31, 2011

My neck has a nut slot width of 0.129". Compared to the only width for "fender style" available being 0.125", the price of the nut plus shipping was a big fat waste of money. It's my fault for not measuring the slot width before ordering, but I'm still surprised and saddened that over-sized widths are not available.

Quick and Easy BUT can not replace BONE

By doc from southport, nc
(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, March 10, 2011

We use these for rockers mostly, who work their strings insanely! They're fast to shape, inexpensive, and are slippery enough to handle the most aggressive blues benders. BUT, be prepared to replace those nuts many more times than BONE over the life of the guitar. What you gain in flexibility you lose in longevity, I'm afraid. Benders may find that they will continue to cut into the nut over the life of the nut. Thereby continuing to "lower" the action as they play. Be careful to use the right part in the right application and you'll be fine. AND don't permanently glue a nut in place EVER! GREG GUITARS

Excellent

Fantastic bought one of these for my SG, when the cheap plastic nut cracked and broke off. The instant i got it down my guitar sung. Not ONLY did it keep it in tune within a quarter-half step (dramatic improvement), but the tone improved.

Poor quality

By Shawn O'Neill from Westville, South Africa
(Customer's Reviews) Tuesday, January 11, 2011

I was very disappointed with the quality of these nuts. I ordered 6 as they were substantially cheaper per unit (but still expensive). They are made from soft black plastic and worst of all, there are two hollow moulding holes, one under the B string which is not good for sustain. On one, the B string slot exposed the hole. I had to throw all 6 away!

Just installed this on my acoustic. Tone and projection are improved! Thanks for a great product!

No more troubles with tuning stability

By A. Mantush from Minsk, Belarus
(Customer's Reviews) Wednesday, December 15, 2010

The only one real solution with tuning stability problems in my guitar (due to string tension on the nut). Even graphite lube didn't help longer than a couple of weeks, but now all's just pretty fine.

1868 - Black Tusq XL Unslotted for Gibson

By Greg Robinson - Guitar & Amplifier from Melbourne, Australia
(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, November 25, 2010

Excellent quality product that is not just an equally performing substitute for bone for guitars that require a different aesthetic, but actually a superior product. Cuts fast, polishes well, and works as advertised: it really does stop strings binding.

Tusq XL Nut

By adrian z from debary fl
(Customer's Reviews) Friday, October 29, 2010

Once I filed down the bottom of the nut to be smooth so that it fit flush against the neck, the fit was perfect - nice and tight. Nice also to have string grooves precut. Tone and sustain for open string sounds are just great. Great value for the money!

Black Tusq XL Nut

By Moosewood from Chico.Ca.
(Customer's Reviews) Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Hard to give a review on something that could not be used. I bought this for a home build and found that even though I bought the tallest one they had it was still too short to use. Nothing really strange about my bass 1/4" fretboard with an 11 deg. headstock.

There is nothing better out there for tremolo guitars.
