Self-lubricating nuts from Graph Tech are ideal for string bending and tremolo work. Now in more sizes!

Extra slippery: TUSQ XL® is impregnated with Teflon® (500% more slippery than graphite). During tremolo bends, the strings slide in the slots, returning to accurate pitch.

Dense and resonant: Pressure-formed TUSQ transfers string energy more efficiently, without dead spots found in natural materials. Guitars come alive with enhanced harmonics, volume and sustain.

Pre-shaped: Slotted or unslotted, they require only minor trimming.

Very nice. Just dropped right in to the ebony Fender fingerboard from SM.
Nice n easy. Much faster and easier than making nuts out of wood as I usually would.

Easy to work with

This was the first TUSQ nut I have installed. It happen to have the correct radius and string spread as my friend's custom acoustic electric guitar. It was as easy to shape and file/sand/polish the finish marks as the bone nuts I have used in the past. The guitar plays great. Another happy customer.

Works but...

These work great. No doubt about it, but oh my they're expensive for a little piece of plastic. It's cringe worthy to pay $12 for something that weighs a couple grams and probably costs a nickle to make. That said, they work well.

Works Well

I used the Epiphone slotted nut for a quick fix to a guitar with receiving a Bigsby tailpiece. It took a bit of sanding work as expected to fit the nut slot and width of the fretboard. Overall works well and this nut with a roller bridge and decent tuners holds tuning incredibly well.

Great animal friendly alternative

While I am happy with the density of the tusq, I was however disappointed to discover that the blanks do not come evenly square. They are pre-shaped to give you a faster project time. I was looking for an alternative to bone nuts and since my bone nuts come in non-pre-shaped blanks
I was expecting the same from the tusq as well. Since I want to have the freedom to choose my shape this feature limits my design.

Turned out perfect for me

An odd guitar, but the epiphone nut fit. A little filing on the bottom and the action came out perfect. Individual action was perfect as well. Got a string buzz from behind the nut - simply had to file back farther toward the tuners so the string could angle down. Didn't touch crucial precut depth. Bend strings, nut won't bind.

Went for the looks, stayed for the quality.

When I rebuilt my tele-clone about 4 years ago and wanted to swap out the cream-colored nut. Aside from a little sanding, the tusq nut was fairly easy to install. I have had no issues with action or string buzz. I would buy again.

Avoid

The fit nicely into my Gibson but the high E and B string slots were cut far too deeply creating overt buzzing on the first fret. I did the super glue and Graphite trick but Should have had too.. and the reason I bought these is for their slippery quality --- adding super glue to fill in those two grooves kind of ruins that slippery smoothness.
